This. Playstation doing better one year compared to the other means nothing in the larger scale when it's still trailing behind the PS4 over the course of it's lifecycle. This data point suggests either that the interest in gaming is shrinking (its not) or that the home console business (at least in the niche Sony tries to fill) is shrinking. There's a reason why Sony has been progressively supporting PC and multiplatform games over this console gen, because they know this data and know that the only way to keep their growth sustainable in this position is to expand the reach of their software if people are no longer considering buying their hardware for it. (It also doesn't help that if you have any ambition to reach the Chinese gaming market you pretty much need to support PC as it's the only platform that can actually reach their market.)

Doing worse also means nothing. The PS3 sold less than the PS2, the PS4 sold better than the PS3 and worse than PS2. Sony still put out three versions of the PS5. Staring at the numbers and trying to make predictions is retarded and pointless.
And the console market was fifty billion dollars in sales last year, bigger than the PC market at forty one billion. It's not shrinking except in relation to market share vs mobile games maybe but the same can be said for PC in that case. As much as it makes PCmutts seethe consoles aren't going anywhere, no one is gonna abandon that market and leave everything on the table for Nintendo to eat.
