Jesus fuck, it's spot on.
>"AAA" game devs are hyperfixated on MUH GRAFIX and making "epic" movie games that end up being interactive movies
>very little innovation, most games are just re-treading an existing formula for safe, guaranteed profits
>huge devs spending hundreds of millions and 7+ years developing a single game, when back in the 80s a team of 20-30 people could make a masterpiece in 1 year

I think graphics aren't there yet to be taken seriously as interactive movies.

Even CGI was seen as a fad up until the late 90s and early 2000s. This is especially the case with 3d animated movies.

If devs actually learn how to optimize the next Generation will finally give us decent graphics. Lighting, materials, physics etc...

Graphical fidelity plateaued like a decade ago. Ever since then they've just been stacking on more and more stupid gimmick shit like ray-tracing and shadows and lighting effects.

He was right

Videogames need to focus on being videogames, not b-tier interactive movies

Because unreal engine 5 is an unfinished engine meant to be used by the most advanced graphics cards.

It happens every generation as well.

Unreal engine 3 looked amazing on PS4/Xbox one hardware but most devs decided it was too much work so they moved on to unreal engine 4.

Ue4 looks and runs amazing on PS5/series x but everyone moved on to ue5.

If there's any glimmer of hope I've heard UE6 will just be UE5+

They won’t, anon. Nintendo’s idea of a “real game” is making you waggle a Joy-Con to feed Kirby a digital donut while a pop remix of the Wii Shop Channel theme plays in the background. Anyone holding out for the return of F-Zero or a gritty Metroid sequel that isn’t made by the interns at MercurySteam is coping harder than a Sony investor post-Helldivers patch notes.

How dare the videogame makers to give a videogame its main purpose amirite?

A fun videogame is better than a movie game with deep story, fun games move the videogame medium forward, while movies games will always be a cop out for people who can't make movies or their own animated shows.

I think if Xbox, PlayStation, and Sega joined forces they would destroy Nintendo.

Xbox needs to make the hardware and software. PlayStation and Sega make the games.

Sure they'll allow Xbox to make one dog shit game every once in a while but that's it.
