the characters actually look a bit worse than that now (unless you like the more stylized cartoon gremlin look). though the only positive of copying Fortnite aesthetic, you can give the girls a huge ass.

to be fair the city is still being edited and retextured like every other day.

the base gameplay is pretty fun and pretty much all you'd expect from Skate (IE incredibly accessible but still allowing for a satisfying level of realism and "flow"), but its the bare minimum. everything else around the gameplay is diabolical.
you have to level up to unlock fast travel points, for some reason. even in-game shop is random loot boxes filled with meaningless fluff to lower your chances of getting a basic thing you'd actually want like a deck or shoes. all the characters and VA are written by "consultants" (bonus minor nitpick that pisses me off; the floating sentient AI robot narrator sometimes remarks about a weird smell on the bus, GET IT BECAUSE HAHA PUBLIC TRANSPORT=STINKY POOR PEOPLE LOL). and in general it's just a massive fucking grind, you have to repeat the same challenges every day like 400 times to unlock more regions and basic tutorial quests. speaking of challenges, they are often incredibly strict requiring you to do very exact things and hit your mark. skating is supposed to be expressive, the challenges should be very freeform like a general area for your line and doing general things like "flip tricks" or "grinds", rather than specifics and hitting exact set points. you can roll right past a Bearing (checkpoint) and have it not count.
there are also some fundamental physics problems but i think they are still working on it. i could not pump on transitions until yesterday, but even then it was ONLY on transition, i don't think you can fully manual pump on flat. you lose speed and momentum so fast, can barely flow even on a halfpipe.
