Does it hold up or its better to play newer TW games?
Anonymous No.717522240

did they ever fix pikes going out of formation right before they're attacked and getting their shit pushed in?

CA "fix'd" it before release by giving them better stats, if u make them work properly they are OP

Well, they never fixed the diplomacy bug that is 1 line of uncommented vestigial code from RTW on a .txt file
So I doubt they fixed other more complex bugs

I also want to know. Its the only one I have and kind of struggled to get "into it" in the past. Been thinking about giving it another looksee once I finish this ck run, but might try a different one like shogun rome 2 or the napoleon one. Napoleonic stuff kinda sounds fun.
Mount & Blade has never really stratched that combined arms tactics it. I heard the warhammer ones have the best battles, but which of the more mundane ones has the best?

>I heard the warhammer ones have the best battles
They have the worst battles. Every fight is just a blob of cinematic kill animations. The units aren't really armies, each unit just one soldier with an invisible healthbar that the in-game healthbar doesn't represent.

I really fucking liked 3K mechanicaly. But, man, the spearchangmanni and "who the fuck are those people" was just to much for me to get engaged with the setting

If you like the 3K setting or are a sinoboo, I would totaly recommend it

Also ignore the nigger above

>diplomacy bug

What? I have like 400 hours in it and not sure if I ever noticed other than sometimes I'll get trade rights with a faction then they'd turn around and declare war on me (or was that Rome?)

Rome Total War is still the best and always will be.
Sega preventing you from downloading it for their shitty remake is peak jewry and you are morally obligated to pirate it
Anonymous No.717523268
The weight of the melee fights never felt right in the games after this.

No.

Game has good ideas and battles are good but a lot of things are half baked and the game as a whole suffers from the fact that the AI is literally incapable of playing the game. Also it's just a glorified expansion for Rome 1.

>I have like 400 hours in it and not sure if I ever noticed other than sometimes I'll get trade rights with a faction then they'd turn around and declare war on me
So, you did notice the diplomacy bug

Basicaly it causes every time you capture a settlement by sellecting the option that isnt razing or pillaging to be considered worse than those options, which completely fucks with your reputation and makes every single faction think you are Satan himself, even if you are friends with them and otherwise have good relations.
They will all declare war on you the moment you contact them, they will aways break treaties and backstab/attack you out of nowhere, and will not accept a peace deal under no circunstances, not even if all they are left with is a single unguarded settlement

You can fix this by just a comment line on the right .txt file. But the thing is that by doing this, you completly neuter the almost nonexistent difficulty in M2, since the AI is utter garbage and was only held together by a bug making everyone hate your guts and be ultra mad about you no matter what you did.

to be fair most mega mods people play nowadays like Stainless Steel fix that bug
Anonymous No.717524562

It's my personal favorite game.
Can spice things up with some mods like Stainless Steel.
Cavalry are extremely overpowered in open fields, especially the generals.
Crossbowmen obliterate anything if not touched.

The part that makes me laugh is that the whole thing is caused by leftover code from Rome 1. Fucking lazy shits.

Field battles are great
Sieges are painful since 100% of defenders have to die unless you prevent them from standing on their main capture point and arrow towers are machineguns against militias

I'd recommend Empire over Napoleon, but if you like the aesthetics of Napoleonic era, then go on.
Main thing in Empire over Napoleon is just that there's some tech progression to go through, while Napoleon starts pretty much at the end point tech level and never really progresses from there.

Just play Warhammer, magic and monsters make a much more interesting game than just guys poking each other with pointy sticks.

Rome 1, Medieval 2, and Shogun 2 are the only ones worth playing.

I like Three Kingdoms, even though the cunts abandoned it.
Anonymous No.717527306
Rome 1 has the best multiplayer but I assume it's long dead, Medieval 2 has the best campaign and a bunch of great mods. I wasn't as much of a fan of the later games.

The best in the series along with the expansion pack.

Both make it indefensible. I tend to keep it on, mostly because it's a hassle to do otherwise and the game is easy enough anyway.

Three Kingdom is almost the best game but holy shit did they fuck up the DLC policy.
