For me the nether was the last update that added anything of substance.
Freshman in high school when nether came out and it was magical at the time
our friend group server made some good shit there and burned a lot of houses down making fireplaces with netherock lol

What do you mean of substance? The substance of the Nether was to add fast travel to the game but you have to cross literal hell to connect point A and B, nobody really used the Nether for that anyway

It's pirate friendly and on 1.21.8. It's pretty fun, griefers and niggers are always banned so you're bound to have a lot of fun. Friendly jannies too.

I can't believe they added literal litter in the last update. You can't chop down your first tree in peace anymore without picking up a dozen by accident. When Notch designed the game, this didn't happen: snow only dropped from shovels, seeds only dropped from hoes.

You aren't going to ever see it unless you actively try to make one. There are mobs I still haven't seen in my 15 years of playing this game

However it really feels like Mojang willfully ignores that the community is more and more split into

Efficiency grinders who will kill the ender dragon in a day and set up hyper efficiency automated farms for all resources (Don't need Happy Ghast because they already got an Elytria and have firework production down).
Redstone Autism (HG is again useless because its done in creative.
Builders (Again Useless in creative but actually useful in survival)
And People who find their survival urges unmet and will eventually move onto Vintage Story (They have already moded the game to hell and back)

And getting 1 out of 4 is ok conceptually, but when the lions share of content for every update only appeals to builders and only builders your leaving the rest of the community in the lurch.

as they should, minecraft is just a sandbox and players should be forced to make their own goals. any grinders for netherite, elytra, and copying every redstone tutorial from youtube are players that fundamentally misinterepret the game and lose interest and then start over again. it's incomprehensible how players find so much satisfcation in grinding out the progression over and over again, there's no actual challenge to it and the reward is just a flex.

The first and biggest mistake to me that no one ever talks about was making beds set your spawn point. It completely ruined the feeling of exploration and made the world much less important. I remember playing early beta and dying for thr first time and i spent like 2 hours to find my house. After that i always made a small fort at the spawn with cobble pillars along the path to my actual base. Also biomes were a mistake and to this day the world looks fucking ugly and disgusting, especially where the two zones border eachother and the dirt is changijg color. What they should do is to make giant landmass separated by oceans. Each landmass has only one biome. But whatever I have no intention of ever playing it because vintage story exist I just dislike the artstyle but minecraft new textures aren't so great etiher

Pouches were a terrible idea. The point of just giving more inventory spots is to reduce inventory tedium. Pouches INCREASE tedium and don't solve the core issue.
There's a reason why every time I make a new world the first thing I do is rush the end. Well, two reasons. Elytras and shulkers.
