Bought one a little while ago, it's fine. I'm not a controller snob though, I just think it does the thing as well as it needs to.
I have a Pro 2 and honestly it's just okay for a third party controller. If I were to go back in time I would probably buy a DS5.

>>717539191 (OP)I've never had an issue with the Pro or the M30. M30 might be my favorite controller ever, actually.
As far as budget controllers go, they're okay. At least they have hall-effect sticks so they're less likely to drift over time, and this works fine for Xbox third person games and retro collections. That said the range of motion for the sticks kind of sucks on this controller, and I have no clue if its like this for all their controllers or if its just this one impacted.
>>717539191 (OP)It's not bad, the sticks feel a little weird on mine but it could just be a defective one. Really nice that you can swap between input modes easily.

>>717539191 (OP)Their d-pads have been known to be the most oversensitive pieces of shit since forever (I can personally vouch for the Ultimate BT being oversesitive as fuck). You can look up any of their controllers and find people complaining about d-pad sensitivity issues.
Other than that they're ok, a bit on the smaller side in terms of size, they definitely feel cheap compared to other controllers.

>>717545478Currently using a Vader 4 Pro and it's pretty alright.
>>717545531Do a flip
They're... just okay. Quality-wise, of course, they don't feel anywhere near as premium as something like an X-box or Playstation controller but that's kind of expected for 3rd party. The Pro 2 I bought will sperg out and disconnect randomly for some reason when playing games, and that's with with it plugged in which is why I'm not too impressed with it.

>>717546743What does this mean, anon ?
Bought an Ultimate 2 a week or two ago and have really liked it so far. I've seen people list the clicky D-pad as a negative, but I prefer it to the d-pads I'm used to. The controller's more or less the perfect size for me, but I have baby hands so I don't know if someone with normal-sized hands would find it as comfortable. It's about the same size and shape as the Switch Pro controller, for anyone looking for a comparison
there should just be a controller general here. they show up pretty frequently that it would be beneficial
>>717548647Generals aren't allowed here nigger.
I started using 8bitdo controllers from early on because I'm a big fan of the SNES controller, especially the d-pad.
The earlier units definitely had their issues, like the membranes under the d-pad and face buttons getting damaged and causing buttons to become unresponsive, or the rubber coating on the analogue sticks wearing out. Luckily contacting their support email at the time, they were cool and shipped out replacement parts free of charge and doing the replacement was easy.
Over time, I'd say since the SN30 Pro 2 in particular, their quality control seems to have gotten a lot better. I used the original Pro 2 (PS1 style) for a good many years and had no issues with it, and then switched to the Hall Effect updated model about 10 months ago and that one also works great. It did however need a firmware update to fix a full-range calibration issue with the sticks, but that was trivial.
The important thing about 8bitdo's controllers for me is that they fulfil a niche of retro and indie games that Nintendo's official controllers do not. The Switch 1 and 2's Pro Controllers have a pretty crappy d-pad, but are otherwise great for a lot of modern games. The Pro 2 I'm using for indie stuff or d-pad focused games.
Tetris 99 for example, I have to use a Pro 2 for that, Switch Pro controllers are terrible at Tetris and are prone to causing accidental hard drops because of the awkward d-pad placement and overly sensitive diagonals.

>>717539191 (OP)yeah, pretty good
i tried a few controllers recently before settling on the 8bitdo ultimate bt
found the xbox controllers okay, but they are locked to xinput
found the ps controllers pretty nice, but with a laughable battery life, and the built in audio device was really annoying
found gamesaar pretty good, but they looked too hardcore gamer
the ultimate bt ticked every box, tri mode connectivity, sufficient battery, cheap enough, hall effect sticks, gyro available (although i needed to patch the software to make it work in 2.4ghz mode)
my only real gripes are that the one i bought doesnt have anti friction rings around the sticks, which i never realised was a thing until they were missing, apparently they have a new revision that fixes this oversight tho, i might replace mine if i get around to it
The only controller of theirs that I have and hasn't developed extreme drift from REGULAR usage is the sn30 pro, not the pro 2, not the pro+, the regular, fucking, PLAIN dogbone pro. They clearly gave up on build quality to drop price at some point.

I want to hook my PS2 controller up to my pc, what's the best cable to get? Or does it not really matter?

Pro 2 is pretty much "you get what you pay for". Inconsistent d-pad diagonals, awful stick input delay, the trigger curves are awful by default and feel nothing like a first-party controller. Eventually mine started having a problem with the stick inputs jittering when the controller is vibrating. I replaced it with a 2C and that one is actually good, and cheaper too.
>>717545404I have like 4 different 8bitdo controllers and all have an ok dpad, except the pro 2 which is the total opposite of oversensitive, it actually feels undersensitive

>>717591179Interesting. I have an M30 that I use for games that need precise d-pad but the six-button layout means that the 4 buttons I'm actually using 90% of the time are off-kilter from their muscle memory positions after 30+ years of gaming. I might look into the Tegenaria then. At that price it is probably worth a try.
>>717553446I've only ever used cheapo ones.
All I see the pricy ones get you is QMK with key re-binding software which I guess is a plus if you're using it for everything and don't want to go through steam + emulator setups.
>>717591179Two steps above a controller that's been placing well at or winning EVO for years is pretty high praise.
On that note, what's a fighting game with both a strict interpreter and inputs at least as punishing on a bad d-pad as 632146? GBVSR has the best input display, but all the commands are simple and the interpreter's lenient. Blazblue's interpreter lets you get away with murder and takes an extremely shit d-pad to make it give up.
bought the ultimate 2 like last week. i havent used normal controller for nearly nine years since my old x360 controller died from drifting (i only had to go through two throughout my entire 360 lifespan too). had to use some dogshit controller instead that was terrible all around. i cant wait for it to arrive.
>>717539191 (OP)is there any modern option that is similar to pic related? I just love it so much,
gamesaar's supernova looks interesting though but I dunno..
>>717594849Can't you just plug these into PCs?
>>717594849Most things that copy the layout don't copy the full set of features either. Closest I know of that's worth talking about is IINE Bastet/Fantech Nova Pro, which is basically a DS4 with hall sticks and triggers, two back buttons, usb-c, trigger stops, and additional xinput/switch modes. Feels cheaper in some regards (clacky L1/R1, no anti-friction rings on the sticks) and the d-pad is worse, but at $10-30 they're hard to beat.
Tegenaria Lite and the upcoming revisions of Tarantula Pro and Pro 3 are other similar-ish symmetrical options, but they don't keep things like the touchpad or audio.
8bitdo, it does what it doโข
>>717539354Yeah its a commie chink shit
Xbox 360 controller feels better in my hands and feels lighter compared to both Series X and DualSense. Is there a spiritual successor to the 360 controller today? It's controller perfection
>>717594849Similar question, but for the Xbox 360 :D
>>717594849Supernova has a very similar feel to DS4 due to all its buttons being membrane
>>717539191 (OP)ymmv the right trigger on mine broke off after 2 months of use.
>>717597901It was intentional and you already know what it means anyway without having to type out sรถy
Both my XBOX and Switch DOs are great.
Switch especially since for some reason all of my pro controllers developed drift.
How do I connect my 360 controller to the PC? It only works for the console.
>>717595143I want that sweet charging dock, usb-c and fast latency, back buttons and hall effect
>>717595535this looks like an cheap uncomfortable DS4 clone
>>717594849sarrr
It's wired-only though, for a wireless option there's
>>717544961 and the Gamesir Tarantula (which is getting an updated version soon(tm)
I think the retro receivers and the DIY wireless mod kids are really neat. Hoping they will one day release a wireless adapter for the n64, though afaik it's a bit more complicated with the 64 because it would have to be able to transfer data to the controller paks, e.g. save data.
Has anyone tried the gamecube controller kit? How do the replacement sticks feel?
>>717600473You can buy adapters that are compatible with 360 controllers specifically. They aren't bluetooth like most wireless controllers nowadays so you need special hardware to interface with it.
I really like this little guy
>>717600474It is what it is. Your best alternative is modding a usb-c port, soldering TMR sticks, and buying a back button attachment for a DS4, which is the closest you can get to what you want in the current market.
Also grab hidusbf and overclock to 1000hz if you're using DS4 wired. Sony has some of the best controller latency, but the controllers don't run at full speed by default when wired for whatever reason.
>>717602552They updated the controller to reduce the fucking polling rate, am I reading this right?
i hate how i got the 8bitdo ultimate for 30 bucks off aliexpress and it's actually better than a DS or XBAWKS HUEG
>2.4ghz connection so no bluetooth jank
>came with a charging station that just snaps in
>dongle is in the dock but you can open it up and take it out
ONE BIG PROBLEM though. The triggers are awful and the membranes wear out if you play games like monster hunter or souls on it. My right trigger wore out so much after a year a full depress only gives 40% max
Thank fuck they have a calibration software on their website so I could lower the trigger sensitivity to get 100% depression from my 40%
>>717603135You are not, what you're looking at is the firmware of the latency tester.
Bluetooth hovers around 730Hz, wired can stably poll at 1000Hz but oddly only defaults to 250Hz. Dualsense is similar in both behavior and numbers.

>>717549936>>717550151Unironically this. I refuse to buy a pad that reminds me of pajeets
