i walked out of there with every bar by using turbo and the slow-time brain implant.

I appreciate the literary complexity and messaging, but my job in an RPG is to break the cage you have given me.

I like how many ways there are to force the gold out if you're dedicated enough. Some even seem intended.
Drugs, Sneaking out, or just killing Elijah and stuffing the gold in his head so it doesn't weigh you down.
There's probably more too.

It was never about the money, it's about sending a message.

You can't drag the gold around outside of your inventory. They did think of that one . Course if you put it in a container object you can move around that's another story. Corpses make great carry ons btw.

You can combine the stack and yeet it through the barrier, stuff yourself full of GRX and waddle out, do the same but carrying a single stacked bar out physically without butter fingering it. The real hard one is getting everything out while locking Elijah in the vault. So you can listen to him go through the five stages of grief in real time over the radio. That's the true reward right there.

It would save you a perk slot and some time in the process desu. Providing the game doesn't steal it before you get back.

Mine was also Xbox 360 and I definitely couldn't grab them like that which was extra annoying when trying to decorate.
The Wiki says the same, but honestly NV is so fucked as a game I wouldn't be surprised if it was a coinflip whether you could or not.

There are people out there right now who played the entirety of Skryim on the PS3 like a roguelike because of that fucking savebug. The same one that Bethesda put a sticky plaster on and called it a day.

since when is not getting the gold part of the "lesson" of the DLC's story? I always just interpreted as part of the reward you can get in the vault (even if it's a bit of a challenge to get all gold bars, even getting some is a good cash reward)

Even if nobody gave a shit about gold being shiny monkey brain catnip anymore it would still have a use.

Oh yeah, all the electronics manufacturers of the wasteland. They sure need a lot of gold. Huge market.
Anonymous No.717544120
If Obsidian was based they would make the gold extremely cheap value to sell unless you find a very specific person in the wastes, because old world gold has no real value except for a few certain groups (maybe Caesar's legion). Or hell, make the gold all fake in the end, if you bring it with you then you realize that it was never worth escaping with it in the first place

It's silly to think that gold would stop being shiny monkey brain catnip just because most people are dead
I mean, just look at the ancient egyptians, the ancient chinese, and the ancient bulgarians who loved gold as early as 5000 BC

Fallout 4 explicitly has you use gold for laser gun improvements.
This is an in setting thing. Also yes NCR does have industry. Society in Fallout still exists. Or at least it did before the TV show blew it up.

It always seemed to me like they really wanted to have a dilemma like the end to The Italian Job, but couldn't manage it in the Fallout 3 engine so instead they just made the gold weigh too much and slapped a time limit on getting out.

Vanity. A brahmin lord would pay a pretty penny in shitty bottlecaps to get his hands on a lump of shiny metal from before the war. Redding used to be a booming slave operation that paid its people in chits for each pound of gold they pulled up. Well before the BoS glassed the NCR's entire economy with no survivors.
