it was excellent when i was 11 and had hours, days, weeks to play without worries
i like the weapon and magic leveling system, the music, and exhausting all the dialogue with every party member/every npc, every time you finish a section they'll have something new to say

This was the first game I ever bought online. It took 3 weeks to arrive. Every day I'd come home from school and ask if it had come. Great game.

Not that other guy, but the Saturn version was translated not so long ago. It's worth trying out. I just needed the bios for Beetle Saturn.

A good game but the optional dungeon (A tower) that you can do early is one of my most miserable gaming experiences to date.

I did have fun breaking the final boss with a party member who can stop time for like 8 solid turns, good stuff. You'll start at the south-west in this here map.

>had PS1 Jampack demo disc
>played both parts of the demo many times
>see the game in the display case at target
>want it for christmas
Also got a couple DBZ shirts with characters I didn't know yet since we'd only gotten up to frieza

you'll experience the music turning to shit as soon as you get to the second half. the game is best before that imo

I like Grandia 2 as well but it’s edgy typical JRPG trope “the church is evil” slop compared to 1.

slow down
and, either finding sweet grind spots to level up all your stuff fast and break the difficulty or not doing that and getting stun locked by bosses.

Grandia 3 is good at the beginning, then it begins to run out of budget after 10 hours because GameArts starts to go bankrupt.

Still better than that abomination Lunar Dragon Song at least.

Or stop being a retard and stunlock the bosses first. This is one of the most piss easy games ever. There's no need to grind, not even for the bonus dungeons

This was the Trails before Trails, and did it better than that franchise too since your party actually talked back.

It's a good game, but the game is so damn easy that the battle system is completely wasted on in.

For me it was running away in the wee hours of sunrise and finding your moms letter, climbing the wall, telling the loli to go home, not being a bitch a going after your girl as well as the epilogue scene.

Its a fun, lighthearted JRPG. You'll know in the first ~15 minutes if its "for you" or not.

>>717545641
The Saturn version is absolutely the definitive version, but the PS1 port isn't awful (its also significantly easier to actually start playing since the average house probably has a dozen electronic devices inside it that are capable of playing PS1 games). Mostly he'll just be missing some graphical effects and he'll be stuck with the English VA.

Amusingly enough the Dreamcast version of Grandia 2 is also much better than the PS2 port, but it doesn't really matter since the PC remaster is available and cheap and is the best way to play it these days.

>>717546593
Emulating the Saturn is full retard when you can drop $100 on a nip console, $40 on a 5-in-1 memory cart that boots pirated games, and $10 on a stack of CDRs.

Spending $150 to play a retro game on native hardware is better than emulating it for free, yes.

If you can't afford $150 than mow some lawns or get a McJob.

Grandia 2 is my favorite. Nothing special about these games, they are generic as generic gets when it comes to JRPGS. But in a way, that's what makes them comfy.
