can incels tell what good romance is?
personally as someone who gets bleached every now and then the best romance I can think of is FFX
I was shellshocked for the entire day when I played this at 10 years old, and when I went to bed that night I cried for hours. Nothing hit like this did since.
i don't think i've played a game with romancing in it that I would say the romancing is good.
Bioware is by far the worst tho
playing dos2 recently was a weird experience bc i had read a lot of anons say it has good romances but it's literally just pick a companion to fug when you move on to act 4, then it barely gets mentioned again. Like fucking what? Good game but man people have low standards for coomer content

also i just realized i formatted this post really stupidly so before some autist replies yes i'm fucking aware dos2 is not a bioware game i was just spitballing
I'm less concerned about romance being well written, and more concerned about how much interactions you have with npcs after you've romanced them. A lot of games tend to not give you much if any further interactions with npcs after you've slept with them. Gotta make it feel like you're actually a couple and not just fuck buddies.

I am pretty sure Xana sees the PC as much more than just a friend. Maybe in the very beginning she would have liked that, but by the end she is definitely in love.

well, you can eliminate everything that lets you choose from multiple romances. so that mostly leaves you with the few RPGs with pre-written characters (not self insert MCs). and those tend to not focus on the characters or the romance enough to make them work. so i can only think of maybe Trails in the Sky, but i haven't finished SC so i'm not sure how the romance actually holds up.
