Emio is fairly welcoming to newcomers at least, the plot n mystery itself is self-contained and afaik most of the cast save for the Detective Agency is new. They're somewhat more serious and down to Earth games than Ace Attorney, but I came into them having played Ace Attorney beforehand and had a pretty good time even with the difference in tone. If you ever get stuck, Emio changed up the Think command to give you broad hints whenever it's not explicitly the next action you need to take. The game also involves a decent amount of investigation work, so if you liked those moments in AA, you'll prolly like 'em here. I'll admit I skipped the remakes of 1/2 myself (mainly due to wanting a physical release that just... never came out overseas), but didn't feel like I was missing anything when playing Emio.
