I like it a lot more than Penacony to be honest. I don't think I bothered to collect all the birds in a single Penacony map, but I've gathered all the bugs and done all the secret puzzles in Amphoreus. The setting is just more interesting for me.
The story has been pretty so-so, but that's nothing new. Some of the new cutscenes like the one with Phainon was pretty cool

My setup was Saber-Sunday-Tribbie-Hyacine. I don't have Huohuo, so i went with Hyacine instead. In the Holy Grail, i only picked Saber pieces, auto-battle and i never lost. They're all at E0 but S1 except Saber. This event gave a lot of jades, which is pretty nice.

Stellaron hunters are written into the story's backbone, they will be back. The story peaked with cocolia fight in particular and that was the perfect storm of cool cutscene, great music and the game being super fresh. Amphoreus is unironically good and the most recent patch was the best yet. They rotate the AE crew in each story section, this one is Dan Heng and soon March, Welt and Himeko are supposed to be background support characters(HI3 references). If you actually played last patch you'd see this entire arc revolves around TB and nothing would be happening without them. I guess you already forgot how much pandering acheron and aventurine got lol. There certainly are too few events.

I liked it. They could have done more, but it's about par for the course as far as Star Rail events go.
It did highlight issues that game has, like refusing to turn playable characters into boss fights, and serious recycling of environments, but I liked the story they told.

One of the biggest problems with Star Rail’s story right now isn’t just that the player character has taken a backseat for basically all of Penacony and the entire first half of Amphoreus, it’s that they’ve gone so far into TB being a joke character that now if/when they try to course correct by making TB front and center and actually important, Caelus/Stelle are already such noncharacters that it’s going to be an extremely uphill battle making them feel like they can even carry the story to begin with. It’s a worst of both worlds situation and I don’t know that anything short of completely revamping their entire approach to storytelling after Amphoreus is going to fix it.

I think TB is kind of malleable and "in the eye of the beholder". I personally like TB being a goofball, but many people want something more serious and you can't really have both. It got really bad in the late penacony patches with some truly terrible brainrot dialogue options but has gotten a lot better I think. Having oronyx's power has made TB integral to the amphoreus hero crew actually progressing and you can argue that's borrowed power, but what else is TB truly good at? TB is not a combat expert, Phainon easily disarms them at the very start, they're just a magnetic personality which gets sucked into the plot and interfaces with the other characters who move it. I guess I'm saying HSR is a semi-interactive visual novel, if you want to be the hero you would have to play a more traditional RPG. I also don't feel like TB is much different from Genshin's traveller, they are more a living witness too. IDK how ZZZ's protag works.

The TB was never THE main character of the story.
In Belobog you were there with both March and Dan Heng, the Luofu was all about Dan, Penacony was a mess that tried to juggle way to many main characters at once, and now with Amphoreous we are getting back to the trio being the main protagonists during the second half.

I quit playing after how boring the 3.0 story was. I log in like once a month and do the endgame modes sometimes, and I can still clear, but I'm pretty close to just not playing anymore. Also it's annoying how my characters keep dying in endgame modes now because the bosses hit so hard. If I didn't roll for Castorice I would have to constantly reset.

...I think that a problem with your builds. I started around half an year ago, and while I can't consistently clear at max rank, I do at least make it through the final stage with all my characters alive, and if they do die, it was due to missplay on my part.
