Ive been watching a lot of LTG content lately and it encouraged me to try and play fighting games seriously.

my only experience with fighting games are the smash games and even those I played casually.

So where should I start? I need a noob friendly game with a high ceiling and a living community.

Get Street Fighter 6 and find some beginner guides on youtube, and your specific character's guides on fightercenter.net.
I don't like SF6 but it is the most popular game and it's not hard to get into I think.

Just play the game with the most players. Right now that's SF6. If you feel lost and have no idea how to progress, you can read Fighting Game Primer or just watch youtube tutorials if you don't want to read.

The first step is to find a game you like. Depending on your autism this might be the hardest part, but whatever is currently active is a safe bet so you can play with people who aren't going to bash your skull in. I recommend either SF6 or Guilty Gear Strive, both have good enough "ranked" systems. You have enough room to be a noob, basically.

Next you need to find your character. Look at how big their boobs are, how their gimmick works, whatever. This is actually the hardest part.

After that it's just about grinding. Learn the controls, special moves, maybe try doing a few normals into a special into a super if you're daring. Just remember to put the game down once you get mad, you'll learn a lot more off the controller than you will tilted.

Literally just pick up any fighting game made after 2015 that looks cool to you.
All of them are beginner friendly enough, but only a few have an active player base though like that other anon said. Still it shouldn't be too hard to find people to play with in the game's general or even Discord and Reddit.

Play SF6. Decent tutorial, a lot of players at every rank. Tons of help and tutorials online.

How do you guys get a hang of hit confirms?
When I'm playing either an air dasher or a grounded game, I'll get some panicked attack that lands, and only realise a second later that I could've turned that into a combo from there, and then never figure it out again during training or still fail to capitalise from it.

Both are dogshit, are easy to learn, have good netcode, SF6 has higher player count but both are very healthy and Strive looks better visually and is cheaper to get the game + all the season pass shit. Both are good for new players.

Only for the top players, for casuals I would argue the tower system is even better, because you can decide on you own to go fight and train against higher level people, but go down your own tower level whenever your want. And people ranked above you can't come down, that means you don't have bunch of hard stuck plats and diamonds equivalents dunking on newbies with 3h playtime.

casuals beg to differ because I have only seen good things about it from them and numbers show it as well. While in others you have lobbies like Granblue where depending on the lobby you have to go on an Odyssey to find someone your level only to find out they're only here to talk in the unmoderated chat, do push ups all day and play gacha shit.
In the Tower system you fight and if the other one doesn't do it, you immediatly go to the next guy. Ironically the shit part of the Tower system (the most top part) behaves exactly like the lobby system they like so much in other games and demand it from Strive.
