No, it was a complete waste of time and money. Nobody else tried to fight it. Even EA didn't fight it.
The law was very clear on this and has been around for decades. It's not changing anytime soon. Valve, for some reason, just thought the law doesn't apply to them. That legal strategy did not work out well for them. Also, penalties for breaking the law don't tend to get remitted because after you break the law you agreed to follow it from now on. It's just expected you follow the law. It was incredibly arrogant and obnoxious for them to behave the way they did.
