You are able to run your games above 720fps, right?

I dreamed of a 1000hz monitor back when I played quake 3 a lot. Might happens before I die.
I know you can hit 1000fps in valorant but that game is gay.

Its rather pointless
the oled monitors require games being played at high frame rates to get the clarity benefit and that basically excludes all the AAA single player games. Your 240hz oled is going to be clear as a 540hz one when you play under 241 fps

There's reaction and there's rhythm.
The human reaction time is some sluggish ass 200 ms.
However, anything predictable like "in the next 2 seconds, you will perform a jump for exactly 25ms and bounce on the wall for 80ms and then do a series of trannyperfect A presses", that's something that the human brain can and will do.
Without this kind of ability, you can't even play super mario 1 with the run button pressed.

We will finally be able to get CRT-level motion clarity. This will be huge for RetroArch, which supports rendering 60fps content with rolling beam scanout on >60hz displays. The more hz you have, the more perfect it looks.

That was my first thought, 720hz is not even close, you would need 28,000fps to have each individual line being drawn one by one, and 120,000fps to have the electron beam move left from right. And even then you wouldn't even be close to replicating the CRT look because of how the phosphors glow after they've bee hit. Seems like if you're CRTlet your only option is to use filters and cope by telling yourself that you have achieved CRT motion clarity.

Not really. We are but silly meat puppets and we need a few frames to make our brains react to the movement. The quicker those frames come the quicker we register the motion. Even if the server is only refreshing at 20 ticks per second, the faster you notice the pixels appearing from the door the more chance you'll get your packet's timestamp in with the next tick.

For reaction time, the diminishing returns don't dig in until about 144hz. For visual clarity, you don't see true sharpness until 1000hz.

It depends on refresh rate. At 120hz, it will be very dim. At 480hz, it will change slightly. At 720-960hz, I imagine it won't be perceivable.

It's for esports fags. Realistically no AAA slop can run at those framerates, even the 5090 runs the latest Mafia game at 75fps at 1080p and older games don't really benefit from ultra high framerates, in fact chances are they will break because they were never designed for that. There are games that have issues if you go above 60fps, let alone 720fps.
