>Random anti-right wing story in a fucking game about organized crime
Why am I supposed to pretend "gray zones" are good? Aoki made them all close and collapsed organized crime in Tokyo to the point it is only random teenagers doing petty theft and that's supposed to be bad... because? Was anything Bleach Japan was saying actually wrong?

Urban renewal is something that actually happened in Yokohama though?
Real Isezaki Ijincho is one of few dingy places in Yokohama that has a resemblance of old post-war ghettto that was Yokohama, before everything become shiny and new, and turned into a one of the most expensive place to live in central Japan.

Did you read that on reddit? Yakuza are pro drugs, pro (illegal) prostitution and gambling. These thins are inherently bad, but not in the yakuza universe, there you have happy prostitutes hat never have problems with extortion, drug addiction and health problems, as staminan basically heals any ailment. It did get a 10000x price spike within 40 years.
Lad is a great game, iw has laughably bad story, horrendous pacing and disastrous character "development".

>Redevelopment is pushing working class out of jobs
I don't think you can simply translate this to American politics, as niggers and white upper class supports left, and white working class supports right
In America, redevelopment like this is welcome for white working class as it pushes out niggers out to the street, and give white working class a job without having to worried about getting mugged
but in Japan they don't have nigger class, or an actual ghetto with constant gang wars, so redevelopment = pushing all working class out of the street for upper class jobs. The point they have is neither the right or the left.

>Why am I supposed to pretend "gray zones" are good?
Organized crime means that the guys producing and distributing drugs treat it like professional work and don't tend to botch the drugs, which leads to a higher risk of overdose or the botched work outright killing/harming people, and delivery drops having a higher risk of turning into an armed conflict compared to how organized crime would handle it.
For more minor crimes, the existence of an organized underworld generally acts as a preventative measure to those.

Obviously Yakuza isn't about either of these, but generally the best preventative measures for things like drugs and addictive substances, which organized fronts are most known for (beyond beating up business owners) is decriminalization, and if not that, allowing an organized crime operation to work instead of leaving it all to junkies and people trying to make easy money.

>Was anything Bleach Japan was saying actually wrong?
Yes? Did you not pay attention to the issues Hamako brought up directly to Ichiban revolving around the women he sent to Ryo's people? They're all Japanese-born children of illegal immigrants who have never known a life outside of Japan. Their only way to feed and clothe themselves is to take these underhanded jobs like prostitution and soaplands because there's no legal means to onboarding them into the country.

A parallel to American politics would be booting out kids born in America by illegal immigrants from Mexico. They likely barely speak Spanish just to get along with their parents and know nothing about the culture, beliefs, and so on. Sending them to Mexico if their parents are kicked out of the country essentially means you have just ruined a person's life who didn't ask to be born in this country but was and has spent anywhere from 1 to 99 years raised in it and expecting them to survive once all their monetary avenues are cut off and they can only speak a language not even spoken in that cuontry.

Ryo's group also didn't care that anything they were doing was affecting people down the chain from those illegal immigrants and their kids, he was solely doing it as a publicity stunt to gain votes so that his egotistical ass could run Japan. He didn't care about any of the values he espoused, the flunkie you kidnap says as much. All of Bleach Japan are useful idiots at best who are functionally the same kind of people you find on Twitter advocating for a cause and protesting but doing nothing about it outside of that.

You also have him kicking out the homeless and people down on their luck who either have lost their hope or are simply comfortable leading a life like that because it's getting in the way of property values and how cities are perceived. Instead of addressing the issues in their communities or helping them he just relocates them to worse places.

We literally have it right now in several countries.
All criminalization and cracking down does is drive that further underground and result in more heavy addicts or women basically turned into sex slaves, with people shackled into debt by those two systems and pushed into the third.
Regulation prevents most of the bad shit that comes out of those from actually happening, even if it is regulation via organized crime.

You can through legalizing them but it doesn't fix the issue that the drugs bring. Legal or not a heroin or meth addict is a heroin or meth addict, and actually making them acceptable in society by legalizing the drugs would lead to significantly worse issues because the addictions would be far more widespread instead of how it is now under the table requiring way more hoops to jump through to participate in it.

Look at states that have legalized gambling:
https://oklahomavoice.com/2024/12/09/growth-of-sports-betting-may-be-linked-to-financial-woes-new-studies-find/
It's caused actual financial chaos to average citizens now that it's not in shady mafia-owned establishments because it's not as looked down upon, you don't have to go to shady establishments, and it's ruining significantly more lives.

Legalizing prostitution would specifically help out prostitutes be safer but would likely cause a much higher upswing in divorces and further cause issues in how people treat relationships when it's not looked down upon. As it is people growing up now dislike hook up culture because of what it's done for years now, legalizing prostitution would likely lead to way more vitriol overall because now it's a public-facing issue.

Oh sure, but providing people these outs isn't going to help either. You're essentially stopping the most serious parts of it (Mafias, cartels, sexual slavery, etc) but still enabling it to exist which perpetuates all the consequences of it (Addiction, relationship issues, losing all your money to it, etc) while also making it normalized which could lead to detrimental societal issues by addressing it. Sure, you fix the broken prison system by a degree but then what? Now you've got ten times as many meth addicts.

>>717610437
Yes. It's significantly easier than 7 because you don't have to get all your stats when chapter 5 unlocks job swapping since they changed how stats worked in 8. The only difficult part of 8's Legend run is the intro because Adachi has to succeed in arresting every enemy during the first group battle with Nanba and Ichiban since they deal 1 damage, and until you get Kiryu dealing with enemies is a chore because you don't have access to Essence of the Dragon God. Once you get Kiryu it's a complete joke, and then once Dondoko Island opens up Ichiban can get the nuke again and both sides can just nuke every encounter. Even if you don't have EotDG (Because you didn't get DoD to 30) you can still easily get to 30 because of them making EXP a bit more plentiful so it's not a big deal.

Wizard's Hats give everyone free MP regen after every battle (Since battles usually only take EotDG/Nuke + Housekeeper's AoE spin) and for Kiryu and Ichiban you slap on War God Talismans on top of that and every battle they're actually gaining MP using their nukes. That just leaves boss fights where you simply use strong single target attacks like the Asakura punches or Rose Stinger, use Aquanaut + damage buff + Esssence of Friendship with Ichiban, or Jewel Breaker with Saeko in Barmaid.

>Why is this controversial?
I directly explained why it's an issue. Anchor babies are functionally citizens of the country they are in. They have grown up, been educated in, and were raised with the culture and values of their respective country. If you send said anchor baby back to wherever their family is from their life is effectively ruined. They cannot speak the language, they can't work because they cannot speak the language, they can't feed themselves, they can't apply for anything because they're not a citizen of either country, they were not raised in the culture so anything traditionally is not really part of their upbringing, and so on.

You are ruining a person's life for simply being born. It wasn't their fault their parents did it. Their parents deserve the punishment since that's a consequence of breaking the law, but the anchor baby has done nothing wrong and their legal status leads to immense issues even in the country they were born in because they likely don't have legal means of doing anything either.

Ask the children of retarded druggie parents how much they like their lot in life. Usually nobody gives a rat's ass about them and family courts and social services consider their parents to be the less privileged and more oppressed members of the household. You are changed into Hero with Ichiban, Homeless with Nanba, and Detective with Adachi. Because it doesn't let you change their equips at all between changing the jobs and starting the mandatory fight this means that Ichiban is the only one with any high tier armor equipped since you had to do a few fights before that, but he can't change his weapon because he was Freelancer before it. Adachi and Nanba have no armor, accessories and default weapons so they take like 400 or 600 a hit and deal 1. Ichiban takes like 200 but deals 1 because he's also got the default bat on. This leaves Adachi as the only way to take down the encounter because Arrest is Death on low tier enemies.
>I thought you will keep it even if you don't reach dondoko.
You might, I might be confusing it with 7. It's been a bit since I played 8 so I'm not 100% sure on the specifics of its unlock.
>Have you beat tfmt?
Multiple times, it's not that hard. What is your team setup? It should be Hero Ichiban, Enforcer Han, Dealer Eri, and Idol Saeko. Host Nanba also works in place of Eri if you want but he's way more likely to die due to his low health, and Breaker Zhao can work as well in place of Han he'll just be less useful.

Saeko exists solely to heal everyone.
Eri spams Darts Airstrike exclusively but if Han wants to hit someone with Paralysis Prongs she needs to use Shadow Stitch since it has an accuracy check and SS is a 100% guarantee accuracy drop.
Han uses Paralysis Prongs in a 1v1, Essence of Shield Rupture if not in a 1v1, and Fulminating Forecast if Ichiban can't as it hits three enemies and 100% chance paralyzes them if they can be paralyzed.
Ichiban uses Peerless Resolve on himself turn 1 every time, Fulminating Forecast, the grapple, and the nuke.

Once you get to Amon you should have the anti-death talisman on Ichiban and then edge the summons until half health because they use an Essence when they die and just kill them one by one.

>I have adachi as detective, nanba as homeless and eri as night queen.
Adachi is the worst party member in both 7 and 8 thanks to his piss poor agitility. Detective in particular is useless in 7. In 8 it can taunt but Linebacker is just so much better at that. If you absolutely insist on using his benchwarming butt then make him an Enforcer for the love of all that is holy.
Homeless is just a worse Host, there's no reason to use it. 7 Legend is all about status effects and Host has two Essences that inflict Drunk (Berserk) and Charm (Stun) with an extremely high chance on top of most enemies being weak to water on top of being able to make Fulminating Forecast even stronger by being a mage job.
Night Queen is just bad I'm sorry to say. Clerk has Essence of Telephone Nunchaku which is really strong Essence, Shadow Stitch (100% chance to drop enemy evasion making every physical attack hit), and Thumbtack Scatter (Broken on Normal, terrible on Legend). Dealer has access to Darts Airstrike which is basically Head Trauma on steroids as it does gun damage (Most enemies are weak to it), if anything resists gun it still does more damage than non-resisted attacks, and it can hit three enemies one time or one enemy three times. It's absurd. If you got the job DLC then Matriarch is also really good for Noblesse Oblige and the best weapon gives her even more agility (She's already the second best just slightly behind Han).

>So I'd like to bring level and job to. 99 an maybe run 5 or 10 times sotenbori.
The TFMT was part of a DLC that was meant to be done after a full Legend run of 7 so you'd have every job floating around the 30s, a couple in the 50s, your main one at 99, and one more for the stats at 99. You do not need everything at 99 nor everything even at 50/60. We had guys at the western launch do it with one 99 but two 99s is more reliable.
Also, don't run Sotenbori, it's terrible. Kamuro Underground with this path. Han, Idol, or Matriarch for the bums.

>host is better than homeless
I know, playing host in 8, and it's truly a complete upgrade to 8. From that standpoint the job selection is really bad in the lad series. They should've focused on characters and give every character three jobs to mix and match. Would've been a better fit storywise, too.
>fulminating firecast
Hard to beat legend without it. It's just too good.

>agility
I don't get the numbers. Gave all reflex boosters in 8 to ichiban and two max soles and sometimes he starts last out of the four, often enough he has two rounds in a row. How does it work exactly?
>sotenbori
I get almost every run one ultra and sometimes even four or five boosters. Doesn't take two minutes. Underground is good for job xp, else I do the true tower or try the tfmt and exit before the samurai. I'll get all jobs to 50 and one main to 99. Should be strong enough then. I might just equip my stones on ichiban, then I might be able to beat it. I'm hesitant, as legend amon is likely super strong and I would like to be over 1500 hp, if possible. Nanba is actually a shit character for legend, as everything one or two shots him, no matter the equipment.
All in all I liked the legend run in 7 a lot. One of the best ng+systems, just level the enemies further. I wonder how many people would like a ng++?

Saeko as idol is ridiculous easy. I like that the night queen doesn't have heal all. They buffed idol and night queen in y8. Charm works like almost always, even on low levels and the night wing claws even give a full heal plus attack up. I might skip armor in the legend run, as I fear it's way to easy. Had no problems in the game whatsoever. The boss fights were very easy. Could've win with attack, basically. Brands are overpowered, too. Problem in y8 is that at some point money is no problem (infinite wealth) and you can gear up too easy. The same was more fun when 100 usd where hard to get by. Best part of both lad are when ichiban comes to yokohama and has only a fake will on him.

Only on Normal really. On Legend it's helpful but Darts Airstrike is just so good it outclasses it.
>How does it work exactly?
No one really knows but generally people with higher agility tend to get double moves before enemies can attack or before even multiple party members can do anything. Like in 8 when I was trying to use Linebacker seriously with Adachi the dude didn't even get a turn until I had already gone by Chitose twice, Ichiban twice, and Nanba once.
>Underground is good for job xp, else I do the true tower or try the tfmt and exit before the samurai.
You will hit 99 in your general levels before you ever get a job to 99, there's just no point in grinding it. That's why you go to Kamurocho. The FMT gives worse EXP and takes longer to get said EXP than the hobos. Hobos are like 3-5 minutes a run to get 2 and a half levels past 30, FMT is like 10 minutes to get maybe two levels if you're lucky. You use the FMT for disgusting amounts of money, not EXP. It's bad for EXP.

Pretty sure I was in legend by then. Unsure if I leveled eri on normal.
>adachi linebacker
Really? It doubles his agility, unlike all other jobs. Mysterious, really. Every jobs stat increase is u ique to the characters, like adachi gets double agi and only a bit of defense as line backer and the other way around for ichiban. Having distinct characters using a pool of generic jobs seems a strange design choice. Guess they blindly copied dragon quest.
>fmt slower than hobos
It's true, but more money afaik and more fun. Running around back and forth feels like a chore. I did find out that's not worth fighting them on legend, as it takes too much time to beat them. Fighting hobos on normal is best, and equipping the exp items of course.

Yeah, Legend is worthless for EXP and JP since it's only a flat 10k buff. The hobo encounters also become horrendously unfun.
>18 million yen for a hp drink and like 100 million for exex weapons.
You're not expected to get EX EX weapons at all. You were expected to get a single weapon to EX+1 and that's it. Japanese sites didn't even have listings for Kiwami Kiwami weapons because no one was ridiculous enough to go for them so until the western players got the game only a few people ever got even a single weapon to EX EX. I think I have like two or three at EX EX at most.

Permanent stat items are also pointless to grind, you have no reason to do that. Nothing in the game asks for it whatsoever and you already have more HP than you need even with only a couple jobs at 99.

Aren't a few of them better than an unused job at 99? It's like 50 hp and 25 mp from an unused job at 99. Few stats + 5, let's say +50 over few stats. That's like 5 sotenbori runs.

Is it? Did a bit of testing and I'd say over a certain threshold damage goes exponential fast. Like att 100 deals 150 damage, 120 deals 165 damage and 150 deals 230 damage. Every other run the characters feel stronger. Getting a ex weapon from 9 to exex gives like + 10 "to attack, that's two drinks
The drinks are really op. Curious about the big swell and legend run. Might remover armor altogether, will see how big swell goes. I have all the level and rank up items from the minigame, too. Are there any rumors on the next ichiban game, where he will turn full grampa, lol.

Depends how many you get but you'd need to get them for four separate people at the same time and the game isn't really balanced around you farming them over getting multiple jobs to that 50-60 range. It's also wholly unnecessary, people here have beaten TFMT without any permanent items or even most jobs at 30, just one 99, casually. Anything past that just makes it easier. The devs aren't even expecting you to go past EX +1.

>>717618106
It is because the devs aren't even expecting you to go past a certain point. You're basically just grinding for the sake of grinding, nothing in the game is difficult to justify farming them at all.
>Curious about the big swell and legend run.
It's tedious because every other encounter is 2-3 minibosses at the same time, certain minibosses potentially two-shotting you if you don't clear one quickly, and obviously it's the dungeons so they're just boring. It's not hard or anything though, the fights just take like 5-10 minutes. Boss fights are super easy because you just Essence of Friendship and they've already lost half their health.

8G is like a $30ish game, yeah. It reuses a decent chunk of content from 8 and brings back the 200 Aloha Links just with new people. Mad Dog is still a pretty bad style and Sea Dog is broken. Majima also gets obscenely broken in terms of damage output that it would make Yagami blush. I only did one segment of attack buffs and I melted everyone including Amon on Professional. If you are on PC get this, I'm pretty sure it would solve that issue:
https://www.nexusmods.com/likeadragonpirateyakuzainhawaii/mods/56

The story is just a generic treasure hunt story. If you've read any pirate treasure hunt story or watched a movie about one it's just like those. Most of the villains are just whatever, they're alright. The story itself exists to explain what happened after the end of 8 and how the Seiryu stuff went down along with a question everyone had during 8. Majima's amnesia is not really important at all to the story.
Substories are honestly super solid and consistently good.

The ship overstays its welcome and is super basic and easy. Nothing reaches the highs of Assassin's Creed Black Flag, Rogue, or even Odyssey's ship battles and I hate Odyssey's ship. Most of the difficulty is in the actual boarding fights, not the ship fights and most of the ship combat is spent drifting and stunlocking the ships. It only really starts to overstay its welcome with the Devil Flags though, prior to that it's fine.

What made me mad about that game was it started out with this amazing idea of an MC hallucinating that he was in a dragon quest game, with gameplay and ideas based around that premise.....

Then they ditched that idea completely within 1 or 2 hours and it turns into a painfully generic yakuza story with "dorama" tier writing/acting.

>Should I skip rings on pirate gaiden or armor in the legend run
No and no.
8G is balanced around the rings being used for their secondary effects but the damage buffs they provide are ridiculous. That's what the mod addresses. I'm pretty sure the mod would make buffing your attack via the skills actually worth doing instead of completely game breaking.
In 8 you are already taking 400-800 damage per hit with some encounters being able to kill you without you ever moving so not having armor is kind of a bad idea, especially when you fight the surfers.

If you launch them and get them near a wall they can be juggled almost indefinitely because they aren't flung farther away than you can reach. LJ also has almost instant style changes that don't advance time further making it easier to do so. The issue is (and this extends to games prior to the DE as well) that they gain more and more weight each time they are hit and you deal less and less damage. It's why wall bounding in the older games can't be kept up indefinitely and leads to diminishing returns fairly quickly.
