Unless you're an investor you shouldn't give a single fuck about that. I liked the Wii U and it sold like shit.
More to the point, this surge is very likely a byproduct of Sony signaling a wariness in the console space, which basically means Nintendo, who JUST released a console, will essentially be running unopposed if the PS6 hardware doesn't happen. Or even if it does, Nintendo still has a multi year head start.
It's probably smart to bet on Switch 2 right now. It'll be the only platform on the market getting major first party exclusives, that's a big fucking deal considering how well they tend to sell.

We've been bored and done with the PS5 for over 5 years and they've been breaking sales records the entire time. Its only recently that mass market sentiment is catching up and its starting to lag behind ps4's overall sales. General disinterest for a piece of hardware here always bleeds over into the mass market but it takes many years to manifest.
