Women in gaming has been the weirdest grift for all these years. It was like a switch flipped in 2013-14 where journos began aggressively pretending and gaslighting about the rising demographic of female gamers. They’ll lie and take stats out of context to play their pretend game that women are half of all gamers.
They don’t even make games that actually appeal to them. Just being woke isn’t enough. It doesn’t matter how progressive The Last of Us 2 is, it’s fucking Manhunt 3. They like dress up and farming games.

This is a dangerous point to follow through to its endpoint. Women want to be attractive in games, and women's fashion involves a bit of sexualization in real life the same way you would put chocolate shavings on a pastry or something. That is to say, not overwhelming but still present.
Women are not flocking to crappy action games starring women built like 2x4s or gorillas, they are playing games where you raise a family with a cute guy in a relaxing setting where the core fantasy is more relevant than the mechanics.
