Still theft, even if they got residuals from the AI company, it'd be far less in the long term than what they would have made if everyone using this AI was instead hiring them for paid recording sessions.

Games should pay VAs to do main characters and important NPCs while using AI to increase the number of NPCs with different voices and the amount of dialogue. Bethesda games would benefit from this as an extension to the idea of NPCs who have their own lives. AI NPCs could be more dynamic without the number of reused voices their games usually have. There would still be space for amusing bugs when the AI fucks up too.

It's not feasible to have hundreds of NPCs with real voices. Using AI would make it feasible to have cities that feel like actual cities instead of the capital of a country having 6 houses in it. AI can also generate dialogue and voice dynamically to react to the player so it doesn't all have to be preprogrammed - without it games are limited to canned responses that grate after being heard a few times.

I watch a ton of AI dubbed comics on youtube and even in the 1-3 minute clips they show, there is ALWAYS multiple things wrong that are not acceptable. When they get ironed out, then perfect, AI is the future. But I don't want to experience the beta version.
