I bought a Switch 2 for my tax returns in June, and played Mario Kart World and Wind Waker again. Then DK Bananza and now I'm 100 hours into Breath of the Wild again. Next, I'll either play Tears of the Kingdom or Echoes of Wisdom, but I'm hoping there will be Xenoblade HD patches soon UwU.

The buttons feel nice. I haven't really thought about it. The only thing that sticks out to me is that the ZR/ZL buttons feel a bit frictionless. The L and R buttons have the same problem, but kinda worse now, where because of how I hold the controller over time the side of my hands click the L/R buttons by accident. I still don't understand why they have to curve so far across the unit.

The thing that stood out to me immediately is that HD Rumble 2 is no joke. It doesn't sound like Phone Rumble anymore, more like PS3's rumble. very dark and wet rumble feel. And there's a ton of detail in individual parts of the controller when you play DK bananza. I set the Rumble to "Strong" in settings and it has minute details for DK when his fists touch the ground or when you punch things.

The screen has been analyzed to death, but personally I am just amazed how good an LCD screen looks next to the OLED. The HDR does still make BotW way more gorgeous to look at, when the sunlight feels like it's now coming out of the screen.

An honest Tendie for once. I used to be a Tendie a long time ago. Went to a "meet up" once in my area. A LOT of people showed up, I mean it wasn't officially sponsored by Nintendo or anything like that, more like a "Hey Nintendo fans lets meet up... bla bla bla." There were booths, people selling shirts and other bullshit. The thing that struck me though, and all memes aside. The people there, that showed up were creepy as fuck. Most of the dudes were clearly pedos, or closet pedos. A lot of LGBT faggots and bullshit. A ton of blue hair, nose ring "women." Just as an estimate, out of every 100 people, maybe 2 or 3 seemed like a normal person. The rest were either pedophiles, women, manchildren, LGBT, a few teenagers, and a couple of legit normies here and there.
It was then I was done being a "Tendie." And, I am glad too, because now that Shitendo is prison raping their customers with anticonsumer practices and ridiculous pricing, I am glad I went back to PC.

Both it and Link's Awakening were updated and look gorgeous. I'm definitely replaying Mario Odyssey soon as well, because HDR really does make these games better.
And yeah, Switch 2 is the perfect console if you ended up not getting certain games played on Switch 1. I'm seeing way more people gush over Tears of the Kingdom now that they're getting another "New Console" experience along with it, which I always said was one of the major reasons why BotW was so popular.

Sure, but I get a Switch 2's price back in taxes each June since 2023. Idk what I'm doing wrong. Some of the tax calculations are automated based on how I type in my income, and the site is a fucking hassle to deal with in Advanced Mode.

Yeah, I've also noticed a bunch of positive sentiment popping up for TotK. Really highlights how all those video essays calling it bad had almost no effect on the game's longevity. I have my own issues with the game, but its crazy how many people were influenced to just hate it blindly

Okay, I didn't actually look up my game time, but it started right after Wind Waker which I finished at the end of June. I just wanted to test the new Zelda App with all the new zesty voice clips from Zelda talking about baking cakes and spending time with her daddy or whatever, and I expected to take my 100% save from Switch 1, but then I saw the 4K version now has a Save 2 Slot, so I started fresh.

I was like "Okay, I'll only do a main run. Memories, Divine Beasts, Ganon" but now I'm at Shrine no. 114, and I just beat the final main dungeon, and haven't collected the memories yet. I did Trial of the Sword, and I'm gonna do the Ballad of Champions. I also boughted Hyrule Warriors and play it as a mid-event between where I am now, and the next part, so I can build up a "Zelda format" for myself. I want to get Tunic of the Wild right after where I'm at, so Link has become the Hero of the Wild, before counting Ballad of Champions as the 5th and final dungeon, a bit like in WW with the Tower of Gods, and it has the final Shiekah Monk as the boss, so that feels very fitting.

So yeah, I just ended up fucking 100%'ing the game all over, and I'm almost done. And I played DK Bananza in the middle of all this. Idk when I'll get back to it. I only got half the Bananas when I beat it.

It took me exactly 215 hours to get 100% on Shrines and clear all main content and Depths in 2023, and I enjoyed the heck of out of it unlike everyone busy typing "70$ DLC" and the weird part is I hated BotW originally.
Even though I quickly realized TotK wasn't really evolving the formula, it made me realize that when you actually play a BotW-Zelda at launch and stick with it, it's a super good experience.

My mistake with BotW originally was expecting it to do a lot of things that it just doesn't. I felt like everywhere you went had nothing to really "uncover" because all emphasis on gameplay itself. For example, I just did the Gerudo Ice Mountain again today, and I noticed that one of the mountain tops labeled "Misteria Shelf" or something is entirely dedicated to 1 Korok Seed. But that every Korok Seed is like kind of a Mario 64 level design. So here, you had to spot a cliff with a rock circle on it, but then cross a field with 2 Bokoblings riding bears, to spot the lone rock at the other end of the mountainside, carry it back, and find a specific angle to throw the rock up on the cliff, or use Stasis or an Octo balloon, and then place it and get the Korok Seed.

And once you see BotW as a series of levels put unspokenly into the Open World environment instead of a "Story with LORE" it becomes much easier to enjoy for what it is. And TotK is honestly just a better game in that sense.

I started trying out software dev training back in 2015 because back then I still felt like there was a Gaming industry. But it was right back when the whole GamerGate thing had happened and I was just so disappointed by the other types of developers I met and how they view video games. Even the teachers were talking wokeshit and inviting female speakers who said "You need good social skills to be a game dev!" and I was like motherfucker what is happening.

Then I started using discord and it's just full of queer people when I'm trying to mod video games. Realized it's the moderation rules causing it to become a safe space for that crowd. Same with gaming.

There's a fuck ton of stuff you can do. Just think outside the box. Staying in the industry, look into Bioinformatics (that was my target field).
Even if you want completely out, with your background you could get a gig programming CNC machines, it's boring after a while, but it's kind of comfy at the same time.
Game Dev'ing is shit now and really..... I hate to say this, but was kind of the bottom of the barrel. It was different in the 90s and early 2000's when there wasn't access to advanced engines, assets, tools and everything else that exist now.

Kek. At least my mom can take care of herself but my younger sister finally moved out this year, and it actually hit me like a ton of bricks. When I moved out I worried about my mom because she's a lonely person lol, but I was like "At least my sister is still a kid, and they're entertained."
The good news is my older sis had her second child, and my mom sometimes spends time with them and she loves kids, and it keeps her from becoming too much of a senile yet.

But sometimes it bothers me... especially hearing that she hasn't been talking much to my younger sister since she moved out. Sadge...
