I feel like I've become too accustomed to winning in fighting games so when I get into a game where I'm reduced to an abject scrub I can't remember how to enjoy it if I'm getting thrown around like a pit bull chewing on a baby.

How do I find joy in defeat?

Nothing wrong with not being able to find joy in defeat, it's nothing but a reminder that you still have a ways to go and that there's someone better than you out there.
The issue comes when the final mark of win or loss matters to you so much that you can't find any enjoyment in a fight unless you come out of it with a win. So I wouldn't say that you need to learn how to find joy in defeat, but rather that you need to learn how to have fun in fights that you end up losing in the end, that sting of losing does lose a lot of it's pain if you can recall those moments that released the good feel chemicals in your brain.

Now if you got completely washed, then that's another story, just try to burn that match from memory and move on. And if all else fails, remember that it's just a video game and nobody will ever care about your w/l record more than yourself.

I guess a better way to have asked is focus on what matters?

No one wants to be someone else's plaything. I know I've done it to my fair share of players as well.

>too accustomed to winning
>gets absolutely washed when playing a different fighter
imo people like that aren't very good at fighting games

Nobody wants it to happen, but it's gonna happen if you play any kind of game with a competitive aspect lol
Even the most godtier of players have those sets where they get fully downloaded by the other player and get stomped.

Just gotta take it on the chin and move on when that happens.

even if one gets completely washed they should just shrug it off. I am sure
many can relate to getting destroyed by someone over and over until you download them and never again lose a
match to the fag.
and if that dont happen, its all good.
fighting games are crazy in that a person who you dont consider a hard challenge for you, might absolutely obliterate your worst opponent who you never win against.
das just how it is.
have fun and never give up.

Mai grew up with Andy and he's a handsome ninja grandmaster.
Terry is a smelly hobo that just wanders around the world looking for people to punch, and he has the better girl anyways.

depends on the type of fighter
I could understand getting smacked if you go from 2D to 3D and vice versa. But if you can't even go from a 2D to 2D without being annihilated, then you taught yourself how to play fighting games wrong.
