What step # was he on when he left Surge's tardyard? I looked thru the archives, but nobody posted the full screenshot, only crops.
How far ahead are we compared to 4.0?
>>717661810>What step # was he on when he left Surge's tardyard? On the last run, if I'm not being clear enough.
>>717661632A few factors. In gen 1 Psychic is the strongest type, many Psychic users have a very high Special stat, which governs both Special Attack and Special Defense, and its only weakness is Bug, whose strongest attack is Twinneedle from Beedrill. Additionally, crits are tied to the Speed stat, so the faster a Pokemon is the more crits it gets. So Mewtwo, with its 154 Special and 130 Speed and Psychic typing, was completely unstoppable. He and he alone is why the Dark and Steel types exist.
>>717661632Psychic does not have any real weakness in gen 1(it's immune to ghost due to coding mistakes, and bug moves suck cock), has a massive special stat(which doubles as SpA and SpD), can raise it by two stages in a single turn and nothing can resist getting swept by Psychic, save for trying to paralyze it with a body slam and pray.
>>717661632It's weakness is fucking bug which didn't get a good pokemon or even a good move for another couple games
>>717661810He's still in the tardyard. Last run he beat Surge at 21,735 and it took him until 24,329 to escape the yard, so he's doing a lot better this time even if it takes him another couple thousand steps to escape.
One thing I don't like is that Claude is still using the navigator to walk instead of putting in manual directional inputs.
He's going to be in Rocket's hideout, see that there's a short path on where he's standing to where he has to go, and keep going down on the arrow, pushing him back for 200,000 steps.
>>717661884 Exactly this. Gen 1 was the Wild West of balance. Mewtwo was literally a god because the mechanics let him flex every stat that mattered with zero real checks. Combine that with the glitched Ghost resistance, zero viable Bug threats (lol Butterfree), and moves like Amnesia stacking Special like a steroid overdose-he could sweep half the league with one finger. Gen 2 had to invent Dark and Steel just to punk him out. He's the reason types got therapy.
>>717647396IT'S THE GYM CLAUDE. IF IT SAYS GYM, IT MEANS IT'S THE FUCKING GYM. LOOK FOR THE FUCKING ENTRANCE YOU RETARDED SKINWALKER
>>717662468>Combine that with the glitched Ghost resistanceI mean, even if Ghost wasn't bugged it'd still be a total dogshit counter to Psychic types. The only Ghost moves in gen 1 are
>Confuse Ray>Night Shade>LickThe first is a status move, the second deals fixed damage, and the third has a base power of 30. THIRTY. And the only Ghost-type Pokemon in gen 1 is the Gastly line, who are all part Poison and thus critically weak to Psychic.
>>717661884>>717662468forget mewtwo, basically any psychic type goes completely unchecked
even fucking mr mime can obliterate shit
it doesn't help that half the fucking mons in gen1 are part poison either
>>717662803True that. Also yeah having your only ghost line be part Poison is so fucking retarded, especially since the gym tells you the intended counter is ghost, yet Gengar would get shat on, hard.
>>717662951Unfortunately the odds of Drowzee getting to see combat let alone shine is pretty low now. Once Claude finds the cut bushes it's a fast ride to spin city.
>>717663458Itโs crazy how he spent like 200K steps wandering through celadon/rocket hideout and barely a level up. Thatโs a far cry from the Mt. Moon claude who had Sand feasting on shitmons all the way to a ripe level 60. Even his clefable he grinded up into its 30s. His team was basically ready for the Elite 4 but he couldnt get out of the fucking cave
>>717662803>Bug is also effective against Psychic>but Bug doesn't have any resistances to Psychic so it gets obliterated anyway>regardless, the only decent bug-types in gen1 are actually shitmons: scyther and pinsir get zero (0) Bug moves>twineedle exists but is exclusive to beedril (part poison and utter dogshit stats)>second best option is Pin Missile on fucking Jolteon of all things
>>717663805But remember how EVs work in this game. Thereโs hardly a โcapโ to them unlike the following games. Meaning you can turn even shitmon bugs into tanks. Twinneedle is amazing in gen 1. Bug is weirdly enough super effective against poison types in gen 1, of which there is a fuck ton. So yeah Beedrill is actually really good if you grind it up properly so it outspeeds Sabrina or whatever. By the elite 4 heโll lose a lot of his utility sure, but twinneedle FUCKS throughout the entire playthrough. Do not sleep on gen 1 beedrill. It gets twinneedle relatively early as well.
>>717663805I'm reminded how in Pokemon Generations, which is based on FireRed/LeafGreen, Red's Jolteon loses to Giovanni's Rhyhorn, not from a Ground-type move, but from Rhyhorn using Thunderbolt on it. Jolteon's only ability in FRLG was Volt Absorb, which makes it immune to Electric attacks. Fascinatingly retarded.
>>717663805>the only decent bug-types in gen1 are actually shitmons: scyther and pinsir get zero (0) Bug movesno they weren't
they had huge base attack stats (plus swords dance if that wasn't enough), slash and hyper beam (which was bugged to not need a recharge if it KO'd). pinsir also gets bind which is notorious for extremely fun gameplay when you're on the receiving end
yeah it was still nowhere near as powerful as a psychic with amnesia but still usable in a casual gameplay as long as you could be bothered to actually catch them in the safari zone (by far the hardest part of fitting them into your team)
>>717664038pikachu has defeated like two rhydons, several geodudes and brock's onix with thunder attacks. safe to say the anime doesn't operate with the same rules as the games, even generations
>>717663970>Do not sleep on gen 1 beedrill. Tell that to Claude.
For me, it's still Butterfree. I actually beat the game once with one, and usually use on reruns at least until Erika because it's cool.
>>717664038classic anime bullshit, just like pikachu brute forcing his electric ineffectiveness against types that should he straight up immune to it
>>717664141>bind which is notorious for extremely fun gameplay when you're on the receiving end
>>717663970>grind it up properly so it outspeeds Sabrinajust use a hypno's physical bulk at that point
>>717659730Claude doesn't have audio input so he can't hear it. And besides, he's a chatbot so he couldn't even process audio if he get it as an input.
>>717664205It actually pisses me off how Claude has not gotten a beedrill or butterfree once due to his goku complex.
I too cleared the game with both bugmons. I lean Beedrill but Butterfree is also great with access to confusion (broken in early game) and a bunch of useful status moves (especially sleep powder which sleep in general was super broken gen 1) that arent easy to come by.
>>717664384Hypno is an extremely strong Pokemon, but Im telling you Beedrill will sweep if you just train it. It doesnt need to be overleveled. But winning lots of fights will boost up its EVs and will allow you to outspeed most everything. You might want a backup plan for Alakazam. But Im just saying Beedrill can fucking one shot that prick if he moves first. Give him an X speed or two if you want, its not rocket science.
>>717662803>the third has a base power of 30. THIRTY.Twenty, actually. Lick only got (slightly) buffed in like... gen 5? Gen 6? Thereabouts.

>>717661632Psychic types were straight up broken back then and had nothing truly checking them like the other anons already explained.
Now a days sadly due to Dark types being so insanely broken, Steels being relatively common, Gamefreak being extremely petty with what mons get coverage, Knock Off getting buffed to absurdly stupid degrees in gen 6 and in general the fact Psychic types don't have any good resistances besides Fighting and the fact the type is weak to 2 of the best offensive types in the game, as well as getting chunked hard by Bug moves like U-Turn or First Impression on the few mons that have it..........It's fucking sad to watch how hard Gamefreak neutered my favorite type. What makes it even funnier in a fucked up way is that several fangames and romhacks tend to spam Dark and Ghost types nonstop too, as well as there even being quite a few others like Odyssey and Tectonic that go out of their fucking way to nerf the shit out of Psychic despite the type being garbage in modern Pokemon. It's some insanely petty shit.

>He's desperately trying to cut the fence down to escape
