Why do people always fixate on ATB the moment someone complains about modern FF games? For me the series started the downfall at 12 and it's been increasingly garbage ever since. The games used to be very much about very memorable party members, minigames, sidequests and big stories. 12 had the garbage political story and pointless party members along with no side content worth mentioning. Then 13 brought us the dumpster fire party members, again no side content/zero character customization and awful story. To this day this trend continues where the stories are laughably bad at best and you don't remember a single thing about the characters with side content amounting to MMO fetch quests.

The remakes people praise but they have the existing story and characters to work with and even then they manage to ruin it with their original content.
