I managed to get to the stage 4 boss on Mushihimesama and it's fun but i think I'm worn out on it for now

I fell for the ikaruga meme as my entry point into non-ancient shmups and kind of gave up on it as I stopped having fun grinding that second stage.
I switched to Mushihimesama and find it much more appealing. Currently trying little by little to get through original mode. I tried maniac out of curiosity and found it surprisingly playable. I also adore the aesthetics of this game, something about the whole style of it is clicking with me.

I've got my first 1cc in the first loop of Under Defeat both in new order and arcade mode.

I've got Crimzon Clover as my first shmup and nah, I can't do it. Can't get past the stage 2 boss on normal and I think on easy I couldn't get farther than stage 4
Been awhile since I played it so I probably forgot all the patterns and shit now anyway. I really don't get bullet hell games, like I don't even know where to even begin to approach overcoming these enemies. Some patterns just don't seem possible to clear without bombing

I didn't like Gunbird that much, but it's kinda funny how hard you can break some sections and Marion stronk.

Gotta admit though, that out of the games I played since these threads started in late 2024, the most fun one was absolutely TSS. And I am including the DOJ/DFK replay.
FUNbird possibly the least interesting. The sequel looked better.

Futari is included in both the revised pack and the fork, but I think the latter will be more accurate. Still, you get the rom from the former.

Only reason I didn't like Gunbird as much is because I mean, once you are done with the random stages and the ship one it's just boss rushes. Sengoku Blade didn't do that shit so it was fine.

Been playing this new game called Earthion.
It is pretty good and I'm progressively getting better with every run. But I've not gotten further than the 4th boss on Medium. That whole stage has had patterns that I don't can't parse properly.

I say that because all Psikyo games are extremely samey, so you might as well play the best of those unless you really love the style.
Even Cave games are more distinct series to series than Psikyo games are.
