this is the most over the top game ever made
what was Kojima hoping to achieve?

Kojima had almost no involvement in this.

Kojima literally saved the MGS:R project (yes, Metal Gear Solid: Rising) by going to talk to PLATINUM one day and asking them to fix that thing. End result was the MGR:R we now know.

It was fun. Shame there was never a sequel.

It was remade only because initially they tried to make it more like mainline metal gear games which are slow and boring in their core gameplay. So Jimbo basically said "don't do it the way i do it"

Wrong. Why the fuck do zoomers come up with fucking headcanon fanfics like this, when the whole process has been well documented by both Kojima and Platinum's guys?

MGS:R was yet another "Kojima free" project he trusted to his younger dev team, wanting to get off the MGS train. Again.
The project was stuck in a literal development hell for years, and was about to lose all funding.

This is where Kojima got to talk with Plat, and they cooked up a fancy tech demo in just a few weeks. Rest is history.

It's good but it is far from the most over the top game ever made
