Columbus is built using technology. Technology and science are one of the main themes. The religious and political stuff is no different than outside of Columbia, which is the irony of it because Columbia was built to create a free society away from the one outside of it but ended up a parody of it.

Wait I don't remember that.
Booker made a deal with one Lighthouse's Vox Populi, but I don't recall him then going to another Lighthouse where that deal was somehow still valid.
But I will be honest, Infinite is a,little....overcooked.
"Booker" in the first and third games just does whatever the voice in his comm tells him.
Columbia Booker had too much "character" imo. Too many lines. Should have stayed mute.

He literally said he included it in the game BECAUSE he didn't understand it. Like he thought it was really cool that he couldn't get his head around it so included it as a central element in the story. This is like someone deciding to smith their own canons for a ship BECAUSE they have no idea how metallurgy works, and then acting surprised when people criticize their work because the canons fucking explode from poor tensile strength when they're attempted to be fired.

It's baffling. Genuinely baffling. A lot of writers include elements they don't fully understand because they think they understand something better than they actually do, this is the only instance I've ever heard of where a writer goes "Yeah I included it because I know fuckall about it, also stop criticizing it."

To be fair "write what you know" isn't a rule, "write what you want to know" is just as valid. As a writer you can have a character build a canon out of popsicle sticks and it still works. Specially for something as abstract as multiverse every writer comes up with their own ideas on how it works. Unless they claim THIS IS HOW IT ACTUALLY WORKS IN REAL LIFE, which is like trying to do real life time travel, then it's fine to just do what you want with it.
Levine just did a really stupid job at it because he wanted to do a repeat meta commentary like with 1's would you kindly. Maybe because the game was a development mess that got stitched together in 6 months but still.

the majority of the time this only works because the writer knows how things actually work and then stresses those points. whether it be an extreme exaggeration of reality or a focus on the nitty gritty.

Or they just write "and then he took all the leftover popsicle sticks and made a cannon". This example is obviously more comedic than anything but the point stands that within fiction you can do whatever you want. What's more important is being consistent with your own rules. Which Levine didn't really do well with Infinite.
>>717677262
It's like how every time travel story establishes it own rules and pitfalls to avoid. It's fine to setup some multiverse story and just make up your own rules. I was watching an American Dad episode recently that had a multiverse and their rule for how it worked is that every universe needed a Shaggy, the musician. If one died all the universes would collapse.

Spiritually connected in that they follow similar themes, game design, and some staff members. But to my knowledge there isn't any sort of lore in Bioshock that specifically name drops SS, presumably because for a long time no one even knew who owned the IP anymore. System Shock Remake might make some reference but presumably it's just a reference, not intended as some deep lore thing.

That's what I mean. If you have to be this abstract about what counts as a lighthouse than the whole idea falls apart. It's fine to have all the Bioshock games in some way connect to a lighthouse as a central motif, trying to drag another series just because that's where Levine made a name for himself is retarded.
It'd be like trying to drag GTA into the mix just because it's also Take Two owned.

and no one is expecting devs to get the brightest minds available to write their story for them, but if they're centering a story around a central premise of a theory most people will generally expect them to have a grasp on the basics. you don't need newton on staff to make a game about gravity and understand that when you drop something it goes down.

System Shock is more of a dungeon crawler fps than anything else. Ultima Underworld in space. Ken Levine forgot the appeal of giving players the freedom to explore big environments on their own time. Best parts of Bioshock and Infinite were not the big bombastic scripted fights and scenes but the moments when the player had the freedom to explore a branching path.

The final product was frankensteined together from rough draft concepts and assets and they couldn't figure out how to salvage the game's story so they just wen with multiverse nonsense and pretended it made sense.
The writers banked (correctly) on the normalfag audience being too dumb to notice and willing to convince themselves that the game was "smart" because of technobabble and spectacle.

He didnt know it. Fontaine isn't even his real name, you know that. All Ryan's paranoia of foreign goyim spies was "justified", this dude breaks into Rapture, steals the identity of Fontaine, and destroys everything

Literally the timeline is that Ryan did not do anything to Fontaine whatsoever until he was caught illegally smuggling things in and out of Rapture. Fontaine then resisted arrest and started blasting, and then he faked his own death.

Months later Fontaine literally starts comitting terrorist attacks and blowing up restaurants, and orders his fake conned "peoples rebellion" to start a civil war. The whole time, from the moment he came to rapture, his sole goal was do a coup and become the dictator

I agree but it's not like a single line of dialogue wouldn't fix some of its problems, like how people complain the ending doesn't make any sense since how is Elizabeth supposed to kill all the Bookers across infinite universes. Easy, those Bookers are other players hence they'll all be killed by their respective Elizabeths, not this singular Elizabeth.
Honestly it's been a long time since I last played so maybe the writing is far worse than I remember.

Yes that is the one part I didn't understand either where they killed the comstock line which isn't possible under the many worlds 'laws'.

There was some dialogue from the Lutece's about collapsing a quantum super position but that doesn't apply to many worlds seen as each universe has it's own infinite number of super positions and all the other infinite universes created from them.

Propaganda is the control of speech. Using your control of speech to undermine my ancestors' existence undermines MY existence as their descendant. Bioshock Infinite is an unironic declaration by Ken Levine that he wants me dead, my family dead, my friends dead, and my children dead.
This is why they freak out about any criticism of the show-ah. They understand that their existence is undermined by pointing out they're liars and parasites. They understand the power of language and narrative. G_ys are fucking one-shotted by high-verbal-IQs. "duhhh... I see it on the bideo game and it uses big boy words... it must be true"

This would be its own thread but it's still fucking retarded to undo one of the more meaningful moments in the series after over a decade just to revive a character who only existed as a reverse princess to be rescued. Even if only G-man can use it it means anything that happens can just as quickly be undone. The damage is done, like any other story that suddenly introduces multiverse, timelines or time travel because they couldn't be bothered to stick with the current direction. It's beyond stupid just because they didn't want to commit to the Borealis plot so now the whole series is thrown out of wack.

It's was something more like;
>Vox steals blimp from Booker and makes deal to give it back in exchange for weapons
>Booker and Liz go to weaponmaker to find he's dead
>so they hop to a reality where weaponmaker isn't dead, but unfortunately all his tools are locked up so you need to get him his tools
>you get to police Impound and realize there's no fucking way Booker and Elizabeth can carry all this shit back to him
>they jump through yet another dimension where the tools aren't at the impound and assume they have to be back with the weaponsmith
>they go back and he's dead and the Vox got their weapons anyways

So yeah, this Infinite is full of shit writing and Ken Levine is nothing but a big picture "ideas" guy. He's on record saying he hates releasing games and would rather just perpetually develop instead. But all that would have been forgiven if he just left Bioshock 1 alone. His stupid fanfic tier DLC story was clearly made because he has a boner for Elizabeth, and once again flexes his horrible writing.
>ending of infinite concludes that Comstock will now never exist because he was drowned in the baptism
>....except for DLC Booker who is actually a Comstock who exists for some reason, did a bad thing, and isolated himself to Rapture?

Ken Levine retconned Infinites story in the very first story-focused DLC and there are people who are actually hyped for Judas. Enjoy your pretentious garbage with ass writing.

Jews have twisted, inverted fallacy brains. Boomers have been mind raped by jews the most. And Ken Levine is both of those things. His games are to inconsistant. Ken Levine also lacks good moraels. For Bioshock 1 they used multiple disfigured, injured World War 1 veterans. One of them had been burned alive and they named that character in game "toasty?

If a game ever comes along and uses malnourished, starving jews as enemies and names one of them "hungry" or "boney" I dont want to hear a word out of these kikes.
