started to play it. early on rebound keys and played with settings to get it how I wanted. then I couldn't progress to get to the gryphon because I rebound left alt to something else.
I didn't feel like making left alt its default function so I quit

I guess it's good thread to ask then - is game expected to be played like first TQ aka one active skill, rest into passives and hold L/RMB?

It's okay.

Very obviously early access though. Balance is all over the place. Ice Shards is hilariously busted with little to no investment. Rogue can basically have 100% crit within an hour or two as Ranged, but melee struggles. A bunch of Rogue skills have "Shadow" in their name but don't get the Shadow Tag so they don't benefit from half of the Shadow related passives.
Vitality Damage is hilariously shit. I made a Warfare / Rogue (Reaver) and took every single node into Vitality Damage on both trees. It took me until level 28 to see some proper fucking life leech actually occur. I basically didn't see any level of "survivability" until around level 20 and I'm pretty sure that was ENTIRELY because I was too powerful for everything by that point. Even with spending gold to increase difficulty. And my damage suffered a lot because I had to invest so heavily into Life Leech and Vitality damage. At level 28, I only had 600 DPS on my main skill. Which is fucking stupidly weak and I managed to get that much around level 10 on a full Ranged Rogue and again on a Lightning Caster around level 13.

Other than that - I do NOT like the Story. In Titan Quest 1, I'm just a traveler who stops by to help. In Titan Quest 2, I am some kind of chosen hero, prophesized bullshit. I don't like that Gods are involved in us right from the very beginning. It doesn't feel like a cool Greek story of a guy rising to the occasion. It feels like Hollywood sloppa.

I am about to to defeat the Griffon and I have magma balls and that's it, the fissure skill sort of looks like it's meant for melee so I haven't picked it up.

Also, this game feels comfier than POE2 so far, but I sort of fail to see how this game is different from other ARPGs? What makes Titan Quest different? Anyways, I'm enjoying myself, Music is nice too

Oh - and Shields fucking suck. I hate it. I really hope they look into Shields, because they are complete and utter dog shit. You give up so much to use them and they offer nothing in return. I wanted to be some cool Greek Hero with my xiphos and shield or spear and shield. Instead I ended up using some retarded looking club because putting on a shield and sword cut my DPS by over half.

The class system, mostly. That and that it tends to deal with Ancient Greece and other Ancient empires and their system of gods and fantastical elements. In Titan Quest 1 we went to China, Egypt, etc. etc.
But you won't really deal with any of that in a Early Access.

On a side note, I think their movement system needs a tiny bit of work. If you play with WASD, you could make the mouse and movement work in the same way it works in POE2. The way your character moves and reacts with which direction you're looking makes the animations considerably more fluid. Right now my character is extremely janky with WASD movement.

100% exploration and all quests was about... 5-10 hours depending on the build.
Play something busted? 5 hours.
Play something normal? 10 hours.
Unless you just go straight to the end. Then maybe 2 hours with a busted build. 3 or 4 with something else.

Bad performance, bad combat and skill variety. Terrible dialogue/voice acting. Really old feeling game that pales in comparison to its' predecessor

You have to spend way too many points into an ability before it becomes interesting to use, and most of them are really bad and can't be specialized in. Theres entire trees for basic attack, dodge, barrier, etc., but they are all basically useless. Same thing for the vast majority of the passive skills. The entire skill system seems like a hastily put together imitation of an arpg system because so much of it is for appearances only and has no substance. Lack of synergy between classes unlike grim dawn which had tons of skill morphs that allowed even seeming dissimilar things to synergize.

Yes. They added utility skills but they're basically all trash and you're incentivized to pump points into one skill because of how their skill system works

On the off chance there is a dev here;
>Story sucks - go back to TQ 1 where you're just some guy. This chosen one bullshit is extremely gay.
>Balance sucks - this is actually fair since it's early access, but it's still kinda annoying. Shields are useless. A lot of Warfare skills require too big an investment while Rogue is crazy strong. Also defensive skills and passives suck and are basically worthless. Why is defense so shit? Also life leech is really shit. Insanely shit.
>Animations - if you're gonna have WASD movement, you should make your character react to mouse movement. Without it the animations are not fluid at all.
Honestly - if you can fix these, it'll probably be one of my favorite ARPGs. But right now it's kinda lame.

I have like 250 hours in last epoch and I don't remember using a shield once. In Grim Dawn I had a retaliation + shield throw build using dual wielded shields. It was incredibly strong able to solo gladiator level crucible becuase certain skills can scale off your retaliation but obscure as fuck, extremely gear dependant and impossible to start the game with

But TQ1 is pretty boring. You are not even expected to use mor than one skill, just pump it, pump passives, go forward and hold mouse button over enemy whole healing in meantime. Every single fucking game from the genre have more engaging gameplay - even Dungeon Siege 2, which pretty much WAS all about holding LMB.

I liked TQ 1, the fights had a weight to them I only found more of in Dungeon Siege 1 and in the 1st Sacred. It had a slower pace, however it did not bore me, I liked the world, the level design and the artistic choice. I'm sure these helped. I prefer it over the faster paced ones usually taking my time with every random satyr mob. I get swarmed enough to press more buttons but this is just one type of gameplay style which I just like. Although DS 2 since you mentioned it, is an exception to my rule, it's an awesome experience! I called out the zoomer for exaggerating as the sperg he is, quickly demonstrated in his reply. DS2 is my guilty pleasure - everyone around, especially editors in various "recalling" articles keep calling it bad and "nowhere near as perfect as first Dungeon Siege" while I disliked first and loved second. Probably because of much faster tempo.
