In what universe would an alien race that travels to Earth be inferior to Humans? You want aliens who are leagues ahead in technology but are somehow weaker or less competent? What?

With our current understanding of (((physics))) faster than light travel is 100% impossible, so unless we discover some loophole any race that manages to contact us will by default be far superior to us.

Just make up some FTL-ish bullshit like stargate did, either ancient technology we uncover or some new theory thought up that allows space travel.
It could be something extremely simple, engines were understood since before the roman empire but were just thought of as toys - and with sci-fi it's all made up already anyway.
It could be surprisingly simple technology- actually very few sci-fi settings have warp drives that require you to be 1,000 years more advanced than we are right now.

But said race would also have the chance to discover a loophole, and that loophole could be discovered by chance or by some extremely basic AI that just realizes you gain a minor amount of energy moving 2 electrons in X specific way through wires or something - it could be as simple as that and a raspberry pi could be your FTL device.

Humans are literally the aliens in Avatar, that doesn't count. It's just a reversal of the trope. The humans are much more technologically advanced.

It's not a game, but Warhammer 40K, despite how much GW likes to jerk off that humanity is somehow losing, shows that humans are easily as much a contender in the galactic war as every other race, with only Chaos, Tyranids, and maybe Necrons doing better.

Sure, but building spaceships that can survive long distance travel is still far beyond what we can do, especially if you're talking about flying around and finding Earth. Signals degrade due to the photon spread, so anything that would be able to even detect us would either have to be "lucky" or have explored enough of space to find us, which would also require them to be fucking overwhelmingly massive (and as a result higher technology).

No, literally scientifically impossible because no material can survive hitting dust at relativistic speeds, so this would require another loophole as well.
If your premise is based off two loopholes - reaching FTL and surviving FTL blows (or avoiding them altogether) the aliens can be surprisingly primitive. It's just as likely as advanced aliens, since it requires things that are outside of what is currently possible anyway.
There might be a small inclination for them to be more advanced since that just means more time for their civilization to discover said loopholes, but it's not a requirement - they could have developed in a separate way from us and prioritized travel and diplomacy, for example.
