DMC1 on DMD difficulty is still the most fun I've gotten out of the series.

It's a more actionized Resident Evil. Same fixed camera perspective, similar puzzle structure, lock on is more of a suggestion. DMC1 is a proof of concept and parts of it are rougher than others.

Can you articulate why you think its shit?
Sure, some parts suck balls like Mundus 1 or Griffon 3, but it's not a dealbreaker.

Dmc1 is a little rough in retrospect and it often gets a pass for that due to its atmosphere, sequels, and nostalgia.

Its still a good game, but other games from that time of a similar caliber are usually shit on, because not a lot of people played them or their sequels if they got any, even if they are cool or "have atmosphere"

Is it the best DMC? No, not in terms of gameplay. But it has the best enemy designs and a level of atmosphere and dread that the other games lack (except for a few parts in DMC2, the only saving grace for that game). In some respects I wish they could go back to that philosophy I like it when the game takes place in a giant structure or place.

I thought so too the first couple of times I tried to play it. Even when I did finish it on my third try of DMC1, I didn't like it. Going back the fourth time is what made it all click and now I love it.

Most youtubers seems to give DMC1 a good evaluation, because the game was way too famous and influential
But honestly, I have never seen one of those individuals, praise the game genuinely, most of the real praise and glazing goes for DMC3 or DMC V.
If I had to guess, I would say DMC1 filters them, but because DMC1 is quite popular, their opinion would receive negative feedback if they say the game is bad, and because popular = good, they can't go against the popular opinion.
