Contrarians are great though because they test if people actually have reasons to believe in a popular opinion or if they are just following it because it is popular, that's why they are basically the natural Normalfag predator, because Normalfags are performative and cannot argue why they hold their stances and hold them out of emotional validation and seeking peer approval.

That said, there is a difference between calling something popular shit, and calling something popular shit and outlining why you think it is. If your stance is actually strong with reasoning (that you yourself understand) you can argue it regardless of if it is popular or not.

If everyone around you seems like a contrarian, then you just always have the wrong opinion.
