what people who sing the praises of linux gaming never reveal is how narrow it is to actually be worth the effort
Linux gaming is passable (I wouldn't call it good) if you're playing the most normie games on a recent gaming PC (and even then it won't run stuff that needs EAC but there are excuses for that as well)
If you don't find in that description, it'll be shit.

I could go into a rant about the how and why of it but it simply boils down to hardware support. you need hardware, and good hardware too, from at least 2020 to be able to run games acceptably on Linux.
if you're using an old computer and you want to play the games in your steam library you're genuinely better off installing windows 11

And it's delusional to talk about nvidiakeks. Nvidia possesses more than 90% of the market share.
Nouveau and the proprietary drivers are both shit in their own way, meanwhile I've never had any issues on Windows at all.
At the end of the day I just value being able to use my computer to its fullest extent, more than I value KDE. Sorry

why would I do that? dual booting is a waste of hard drive space
I have given Linux more than a fair shake over the years, I ran it exclusively for two years
the fact is that whenever I'm looking at games on Steam I'm walking on eggshells and have to put up with bad performance and/or debugging things
I've hit a point where I just want to click on stuff in my steam library and not have to worry about it

now, is it lazy of me? maybe
But I do work with Linux for a living, when I get home from work, my patience for debugging crap has lessened over the years
Is it my fault for not upgrading? yes and no, if Linux apostles bill Linux as a drop-in replacement for windows, I'll treat it as such. In that regard, it fails on my hardware where Windows succeeds

Linux is actually better about running really old games and has been on par with most random obscure ones. I've got working win95 SimTower and SimIsle, which haven't worked on Windows since 7. Worst experiences I've had are trying to get BYOND and a specific game mod running.

Good for you. I've had the exact opposite experience running games from the 2000s

Sure, and I’m the Queen of England posting from my Steam Deck while playing modded Skyrim on Arch. Post handholding pic with timestamp or you’re just another LARPer coping through waifu delusions.

On the one hand, shit just werks on my Steam Deck.

On the other, I grabbed a live iso and have been trying to get it to actually work for two days now. Just boots to GRUB's command line, and nothing I've found on moving past that fucking works.

From the devs: "Mari is a very pure and nice girl, and if looking at her makes you think she has a dark or lewd side, please repent."
