Did you hear anon? Nintendo's new Switch Pro 2 controller is causing injury to some people. https://www.neogaf.com/threads/switch-2-pro-controller-felt-amazing%E2%80%A6-until-it-didn%E2%80%99t.1686781/

Some youtube was first to make it widespreadly known, but among internet denizens, there were already reports of other people having same issue before seeing the video (so it's not somatic, but an actual real issue affecting some people) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B91WhedKOyU&pp=ygUPbmludGVuZG8gaW5qdXJ5

However I will say that the youtuber is probably right, that it has probably do with the new grips, how their extreme angles make you hold the new controller in a weird/less comfortable way or something. I honestly don't know the real cause but he goes more in-depth on it than I do. What's weird is like the guy on neogaf, I never had any issues with Pro 1 controller, it's only this Pro 2 controller that's causing issues. It's a shame cause the new stick gliding is amazing, the more sensitive/accurate stick is nice, but it's all unusable if there's risk of damage to some fine motor muscles or something. I honestly think they should make Pro 2 classic controller or something, so we get the new controller in the design of original Pro 1 controller, that way everyone can enjoy the new controller. As it is i'm currently forced to buy/try out different third party controllers, despite having bought Switch 2 Pro controller on day 1.

Buy 8BitDo Ultimate 2C Bluetooth and call it a day. Gyro is overrated compared to the weight savings you get from riddling it, also hall effect is comfier than TMR so 2C is perfect

I think the guy on vid is making a case that on pro 1, you have more muscles in relax state, whilst while holding pro 2 controller you have 1-2 different muscle more active state, less relaxed.

It's not only a problem of the youtube guy, because apparently people on that neogaf thread also have this issue. And myself had started facing this issue few days before I stumbled on the youtube vid.

No that's really dumb. I jump back and forth between handheld and docked and I'm just fine. I find the 2 controller to be comfier to use since it isn't as fat. Maybe its just a hand fat or size issue
Anonymous

I think it may be combination of two things. The angles of the new grip design is far more aggressive than the smooth lines over say 2C or Pro 1 controller, so they're "sinking" into your hand because of their aggressive angles. The grips are also smaller than on 2C or other controllers, the controller overall might be too small according to some neogaf posters

It's the angles, it comes at you too sharply, activating muscles that are at relaxed state when handling other controller. The design of Pro 2 is much more aggressive than the much more relaxed Pro 1. I don't have *that* many controllers but none of my third party controllers have angles as sharp as Switch Pro 2 does

Lol not even close. Its a joke in japan and other asian countries that they molded the dualsense for fat americans and black people. Compare the size to a dualshock 3 and even the 4 which many felt while larger was a good balance.

Yes, skip Pro 2 controller, buy either gamesir cyclone or some 8bitdo Ultimate 2 (maybe even new Pro 3), they're all better than Switch Pro 2. Only thing Switch Pro 2 has over those is the ability to wake switch 2 from sleep (which atm, can only be done with switch pro 2), and the gliding sticks (which will eventually be added to third party controllers, some day, soon, maybe, I hope)

Horizontal aiming with gyro on splatoon is aids. It's only good for vertical aiming, but it's completely un-usable for horizontal, you have to do hybrid aiming where you turn with stick, and aim up and down with gyro

It goes without saying that Wii U's motion controls were 100000x better than this gyro shit, and I didn't even need to play it on Wii U to know, just the headshotting of zombies on RE4 is evidence enough that motion aim is perfect way to game

GameSir Cyclone 2 is ranking high on this list. https://gamepadla.com/?filtering=spec_platform_switch[yes]
And even if I waited for next year's Ultimate 3, it wouldn't have the Xbox design that these other 3rd parties (like GameSir) do

I kinda want the third party controllers start to implement that same gliding that Switch Pro 2 does, because that's one of the winning features of that controller.

>there's 8bitdo pro 3
>there's 8bitdo ultimate 3 (with some better features/whatever is missing from ultimate 2, maybe the face button swap gimmick from pro3)

I just don't see any room for a Switch Pro controller on this list, it's just not "enticing", it's "too safe", too "standard" type of controller or something, lacks cojones. Would I like to see all of the third party controllers adopting the gliding stick feature? Hell yeah. Would I want to use Switch Pro 2 for that feature? Hell no.

Yeah but it's a Pro 2 controller specific issue, because he wasn't having this issue with previous controllers, and he also raised fair points on the video, that the thumb is not resting as much while holding Pro 2 controller, than it does when holding Pro 1 controller. The shape of Pro 2 controller digs deeper and it leaves the thumb muscles restless. There are differences to ergonomics to controllers, and there's no more stark difference than the shift in ergonomics from Pro 1 to Pro 2

That's very, very retarded of you anon. Something like that would apply to just about every controller, especially something like the Dualsense where the layout doesn't fit the shape and you actually have to extend your thumbs more. Unless you're one of those retards who think that you have to hold a controller with your fingertips.

Pictures does no justice to how entirely different controller pro 2 controller is. You have to hold it in your hands to see those new "extreme" angles that were introduced to it. You can also sort of feel it too when you hold it in your hands, it's to do with the grips.

very quick 10 second test , this area is very sharp on the next controller, it's also made worse because the plastic on pro2 is much stiffer. The more aggressive shape will cause more stress than the original pro 1's smoother shape .. this was a quicky observation I could do just doing scanning with finger. I'm sure you too could do something similar if you have these two controllers, you would know how much different the pro 2 is

is there big difference between hall effect vs TMR? I currently have wireless 2c taking up a usb hub slot, thinking of upgrading it to either 2c bluetooth (to rid the adapter) or ultimate 2 (for TMR). The pro of either 2c wireless or bluetooth (latter works natively on switch, without having to buy v2 adapter) is they weight a little bit less than normal ultimate I think. It just feels like "hollow" controller, like there's not much stuff inside, which I think means it's either light for its size or that its weight balance is good.

So long as the sticks fit the controller's other specs, there's functionally no difference.
On average you'd get better results blind buying TMR controllers vs hall effect, since the former is newer tech on generally higher spec controllers.

Symmetrical sticks on that controller would suck anyway, bottom modules are too close together. Sadly a common problem with modular controllers.

I have long Yaoi Alien fingers so i have had no problems with any controllers. Not even the Shit 2 pro controller.

the gimmick itself is a little so so (and someone might argue there's another controller that does it better), but the controller itself might play really well, like "robust" moves on sticks/buttons. My only concern is if I want another symmetrical controller, or do I buy assymetrical next. Ironically when I first bought symmetrical I was playing 2d platformer where there could've been some benefit from the layout, but almost immediately after buying first symmetrical I was (coincidentally, ironically enough) playing top down 2d games on a stick, so not really getting the best benefits of symmetrical layout.
