Did you hear anon? Nintendo's new Switch Pro 2 controller is causing injury to some people. https://www.neogaf.com/threads/switch-2-pro-controller-felt-amazing%E2%80%A6-until-it-didn%E2%80%99t.1686781/
Some youtube was first to make it widespreadly known, but among internet denizens, there were already reports of other people having same issue before seeing the video (so it's not somatic, but an actual real issue affecting some people) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B91WhedKOyU&pp=ygUPbmludGVuZG8gaW5qdXJ5
However I will say that the youtuber is probably right, that it has probably do with the new grips, how their extreme angles make you hold the new controller in a weird/less comfortable way or something. I honestly don't know the real cause but he goes more in-depth on it than I do. What's weird is like the guy on neogaf, I never had any issues with Pro 1 controller, it's only this Pro 2 controller that's causing issues. It's a shame cause the new stick gliding is amazing, the more sensitive/accurate stick is nice, but it's all unusable if there's risk of damage to some fine motor muscles or something. I honestly think they should make Pro 2 classic controller or something, so we get the new controller in the design of original Pro 1 controller, that way everyone can enjoy the new controller. As it is i'm currently forced to buy/try out different third party controllers, despite having bought Switch 2 Pro controller on day 1.
Buy 8BitDo Ultimate 2C Bluetooth and call it a day. Gyro is overrated compared to the weight savings you get from riddling it, also hall effect is comfier than TMR so 2C is perfect
>>717686205I have a 2c, though it's in pink color so it's not street credible
It's just more problems we didn't ask for. They could've stuck to the design of original controller and we wouldn't be in this mess
>>717685745 (OP)I'm not watching the faggy video. Whats wrong with the controller? I see mine as a full upgrade over the original. I can even use it for 2d games.
>>717687164you're risking your health
>>717687369Explain how. That doesn't say or mean anything. I've been using mine since launch
>>717687164I think the guy on vid is making a case that on pro 1, you have more muscles in relax state, whilst while holding pro 2 controller you have 1-2 different muscle more active state, less relaxed.
It's not only a problem of the youtube guy, because apparently people on that neogaf thread also have this issue. And myself had started facing this issue few days before I stumbled on the youtube vid.
>>717686205>>717686205Hmm, that sounds exactly what I, another genuine consumer, am looking for. Where might I purchase this 8BitDo Ultimate 2C Bluetooth with hall effect sticks, my good sir?
>>717687602they're out of stock in my local stores but I would imagine I could order one from amazon or something, maybe
>>717685745 (OP)>2025>still using potentiometers
>>717687595No that's really dumb. I jump back and forth between handheld and docked and I'm just fine. I find the 2 controller to be comfier to use since it isn't as fat. Maybe its just a hand fat or size issue
I think it may be combination of two things. The angles of the new grip design is far more aggressive than the smooth lines over say 2C or Pro 1 controller, so they're "sinking" into your hand because of their aggressive angles. The grips are also smaller than on 2C or other controllers, the controller overall might be too small according to some neogaf posters
>controller so bad it harms weak tendies
you really cant make this up
>>717687990>>717687995Going off the comments here and
>neogafIts a bunch of fatso's who can't handle a smaller controller. There's a reason why playstation made the dualsense for large fat hands
>>717688162is the dualsense big? i thought it was relatively the same size as the xbox controller
>>717688162It's the angles, it comes at you too sharply, activating muscles that are at relaxed state when handling other controller. The design of Pro 2 is much more aggressive than the much more relaxed Pro 1. I don't have *that* many controllers but none of my third party controllers have angles as sharp as Switch Pro 2 does

🔍
>>717688313you might be right but i cant really tell
>>717688273Lol not even close. Its a joke in japan and other asian countries that they molded the dualsense for fat americans and black people. Compare the size to a dualshock 3 and even the 4 which many felt while larger was a good balance.
>>717688364I hate it when my controller approaches me aggressively.
i haven't held the pro controller 2 yet by my friend that has bitched about a couple of weeks ago. when i was musing about buying a switch 2 recently he flat out told me not to buy the pro controller 2 because it's that bad. i need to hold it for myself first because hand sizes vary but i'm kinda shocked to see more people dislike it other than him.
sounds like you have bitch hands
switch 1 pro controller is basically perfect in terms of form factor and weight. massive fuckup to change it instead of just using the same design. what were even the complaints about the switch 1 pro controller? meh dpad and stick drift? certainly not the comfort or form.
>>717688517Sometimes I rub my wrists after half an hour of intense gaming, usually helps relax my muscles.
>>717688582Interesting anecdote, does your friend have much experience?
>>717688582Go to a store or something. I wasn't going to buy one but I used it at my friends house and liked it
>>717688582Yes, skip Pro 2 controller, buy either gamesir cyclone or some 8bitdo Ultimate 2 (maybe even new Pro 3), they're all better than Switch Pro 2. Only thing Switch Pro 2 has over those is the ability to wake switch 2 from sleep (which atm, can only be done with switch pro 2), and the gliding sticks (which will eventually be added to third party controllers, some day, soon, maybe, I hope)
>>717688676How? I like the controller and I even have 2 special edition ones but the two is an improvement in every way. Using both to back I can't stand how fat the original is now.
>>717688273i have average male hands and the dualsense has never felt too big for me. i think they made it for typical male hands because it fits mine perfectly.
>>717688864Self concious much huh mr "average male hands"
>>717688804for me personally at least the permanent back buttons are a big negative. i wish they were removable since i will never use them and they're just a nuisance.
Overall the Steam Deck has much better form factor than the Switch 2. Nintendo didn't test their console enough before greenlighting its final build.
>>717685745 (OP)Really not taking the sony leaving hardware news well, are we?
>>717688948people clowning on cavill made me measure mine once and they're like 7.5" long which is average for 5'10".
been using mine since launch, zero issues. get better hands.
>>717688679>does your friend have much experience?he used it for about 2 hours and said it made his hands hurt and that the buttons were stiff. he found the joycons more comfortable.
>>717688687do they still have demo kiosks out at retail stores?
>>717688953Do you hit them by accident? I think they're placed nicely. I've only really binded them for two games and they never felt intrusive.

>>717685745 (OP)I don't even have a Switch 2 and I think this is a skill issue. How the fuck do you fuck up your hands from just holding a controller? Maybe don't use it like a retard aka don't be like the smelee players who gave themselves carpal tunnel on a perfectly shaped controller.
>>717689998These types of threads are eye opening for me. So many limp wristed nerds neglect their health and run into these problems. They'll complain about thumb pain when the left stick isn't in their preferred position. Its some real pussy shit.

>>717690523But isn't that what nerds already do, especially those who use PC and slide their mouse/type on keyboard? What more are you supposed to do with your hands?
Only use Xbox-shaped controllers. The Switch and PS4/PS5 controls aggravate my wrists and feel less ergonomic in general.
>>717688676Yeah it's really weird. If there were no real issues with Switch 1 pro controller, why did they suddenly make so sharp design that not even the third party controller manufacturers are doing? If it aint broken, why fix it?

>>717691518I heard there's an easy fix for the D-pads using tape.
Why Nintendo didn't fix this for the S2Pro, idk.
>>717691518truth be told, I don't play that many 2d games, mercenary kings (metal slug clone) is probably only one I play, but if you play ton of 2d games then maybe some retro style controller from 8bitdo collection should be good for you. let's start listing some gimmicks that some controllers have
>>717696627Yeah but it's a Pro 2 controller specific issue, because he wasn't having this issue with previous controllers, and he also raised fair points on the video, that the thumb is not resting as much while holding Pro 2 controller, than it does when holding Pro 1 controller. The shape of Pro 2 controller digs deeper and it leaves the thumb muscles restless. There are differences to ergonomics to controllers, and there's no more stark difference than the shift in ergonomics from Pro 1 to Pro 2
>>717697349It has nothing to do with the controller. He's 30 years old and wants to blame his tired nerves on his new controller instead of his aging body.
>>717697536>a thing that wasn't an issue before, suddenly is an issue>the entirely different controller shape from its predecessor? yeah that's just a coincidence, no way a controller activating more fine motoric muscles than other controller would cause any problems for you

>>717697680>>717697830The new pro 2 shape is activating more fine motor muscles that are hard to train, which is causing problems to some people. It's a controller design problem because not all designs have this fault
