good game but back tracking kinda ruins it
great graphics and amazing performance tho

It's a solid title, the problem is that it wasnt a full game, is was half a game played twice.
This after the behemoth of a game that was DMC3 is a downgrade really.

3 > 1 = 5 > 4

4 would easily beat 5 if the second half was good.

DMC3 had tons of backtracking too in case you forgot
I think you visit the base of the tower like 4 times and that's assuming you don't get lost

The second half is good, you niggers just don't like using Coyote

The second half isn't terrible but it's boring and the final boss sucks.

Anon, you quite literally go back to the start right after switching to Dante in 4. You aren't asked to go all the way back to Dante's place by the end of 3, you aren't asked to do the same dice-minigame twice, you get one boss-rush, DMC 4 makes you fight the same bosses 3 fucking times.
It's night and day, the amounts of backtracking in 3 is like 15% to DMC4's 50%.

>you aren't asked to do the same dice-minigame twice
Neither does 4 ask that of you. Dante just cuts the die in half in case you forgot

>DMC 4 makes you fight the same bosses 3 fucking times.
So does DMC1 and no one gives a fuck

Regardless this complaint shows to me that you're an absolute poser. DMC is designed to be played over and over again, it's a score game. If you're complaining about reused enemies and locations that tells me that you only played it once and therefore you fundamentally do not care what the game is actually about

Enemies aren't bosses, bosses are the main appeal. And in the case of one (the very first game, made on the bones of proto-RE4, padding itself out), you had different arena's and essentially different patterns when you re-encountered a boss. You can skip Phantom, Nelo gets harder, Griffon's locations get weirder.
You literally fight the same bosses in 4, in the same places, visually and physically, with boss rush. They're good bosses, but if I'm playing DMC's over and over, those three times, compared to 3's 2 times, or how short 1's overall content is, AGAIN is night and day.

I get it, 4 is fun, but you have to be a complete coping faggot to ignoring its pacing issues.

>you had different arena's and essentially different patterns when you re-encountered a boss.
okay, and so why doesn't fighting the boss with Nero vs fighting the boss with Dante count as the same type of difference?
And even then you still have some bosses that change completely like Agnus, or that you only fight once, like Credo or Dante

even if the original intent was gutted, all Capcom had to do was allow for the team to make unique rooms for Dante.
Kind of like how part of mission 17 takes place on the street level instead of Nero's path
But no, we're stuck with same level (but gimmick)
and then they went and added 3 more characters, when the game barely had content for two

Because Nelo has a different moveset, does summon swords and gets staggered a lot less in his final fight you double poser.
You fight Credo once (triple poser), Agnus doesn't change up anything, Savior changes, and Dante 'changes' like fighting Vergil 1 then Vergil 3. You get a Tutorial not-boss, a baby-boss, then an actual boss later. So I'll give you Dante, but everything else? Fuck no.

Even Nightmare asks you to attack those pedestals in a cramped room with fucked up camera placement in his later fight.

The "4" in the title stands for "1/4 of a finished product".

>You fight Credo once (triple poser),
which is... exactly what I said?

>Agnus doesn't change up anything,
Anon his first fight you are flinging the sword enemies at him with the Devil Bringer and the second fight you are fighting him directly with Dante

I wasn't counting tutorial Dante as a real boss either, I was only thinking of the fight in the castle

it really grabs you in the first 3 missions, and then it never gets any more interesting, no adventure or complexity or depth or story. I beat 4 and 5 on DMD inb4

I don't get such cherry picking. You have plenty of mole ass backtracking sequences like that in DMC3. With the worst offender being m18, where they disable ALL of your movement, style, attack options, they literary only allow you to move at default speed to the next teleporter because muh Relativity painting reference.
At least the shitcube had the decency to allow you to skip instantly to the boss room, without having to even take a single step.
