Destruction is actually back, weapons aren't crap anymore, the audio mixing is really really good the guns and explosions sound loud and angry, jets and choppers are good again.

Destruction is back to how it used to be. Medics are important again. Jets and choppers are good again. The interiors are now the same clusterfuck as Metro from BF3. Engineer tank teams still wreck everything. Time to kill is back to how it was in BF4. The audio mixing finally has War Tapes again and sounds great.
Of course it doesn't feel exactly like BF4 but it's a lot closer to it than any BF game since.

I've been playing BF1 for about a hundred hours this summer and from what I can tell this beta has the same strong points and the same weak points as that game.

Essentially if you're not playing with friends half the mechanics of the game go out the window and you'll only be chasing kills making every match a steamroll for the team that has some people that are actually trying. Vehicles will either completely dominate or blow up in three seconds depending on if people have room temperature IQ or not. I never played 2042 so I don't know how badly they fucked that up outside of the character bullshit but this does feel like a direct continuation of 1 with everything that brings. I'll probably get it when it's half price.

Conquest but only on the mountains map. I forgot the name. Helis are made of wet paper. Shoot them with an lmg and they are gone.

It takes a couple of hours to get used to it but it plays like the infantry focused maps in bf1,3,4,5. ie Zerg from one flag to the other while one or two squads tries to flank by using lane 2 instead of 1 or 3.
Have to see some of the larger maps, assuming they have any, if it really plays like battlefield or not.
As is it's fun enough to play and unlock/try stuff but I don't know if I want to pay $90 CAD for it, especially with a large backlog of games to play. I am surprised at the lack of bugs though.

There’s something going on with this game and certain hardware, I was getting insane lag playing anything bigger than 8v8 (and still sometimes on that), with TN hitting 700ms regularly, occasionally going above 1000, while my friend in the same game had a TN of like 5. My CPU usage wasn’t going above 50%, and turning down the graphics settings did nothing, so I don’t think it’s performance-related. I’ve seen people on the steam forums complaining about the same thing, but it doesn’t seem widespread.

It's rough because the most of the maps are small and they only allow limited movement for the tanks but lots of corridors for soldiers. So it's easy to get jumped but if you push with your team and understand which points like point C on Cario will get you killed fast you can live quite long. I find something racking quite a lot of kills as the diver or secondary gunner along with the presence of the tank really helping to some push points. While yes they are quite squishy from behind as they can be two shorted this isn't a deal breaker if you play smart and with your team. Also as I said if they nerf the RPG reload time I think it would help massively with tank survivability.

It's basically COD MW19 Ground War except has Battlefield mechanics. The vehicles are the same, the cramped maps are the same, the gunsmith is the same. The fact that plebbit/r/battlefield is in denial about this is ridiculous.

I'm ok with this though, MW19 the best COD game since the originals and the only good COD game of the last decade. Battlefield's whole point is the vehicles. If anything, I'm pissed we're still limited to so few vehicles per map. We should be getting 6+ MBTs and 4+ helicopters per side per map. And double that for IFVs and transport helis.

How did the destruction take a step back from One and V. Gunplay and shit feels fine, but honestly the completely static environments and pre-fab destruction makes this feel closer to a Gen 7 title than Gen 9. Battlefield One was a genuine fucking masterclass of presentation when it came to the environment. Seeing a pristine field turned to mud and craters over the course of a 30 minute game was always amazing. This game does not have that. The city maps are the absolute worst for it. So many completely indestructible walls and buildings to the point it completely ruins the feeling of the map. Someone peeking behind a wall? Want to destroy it? Too bad. That wall's invulnerable.
