They unironically play a lot of older games and older mmo private servers.
I've seen several zoomer "retro" mmorpg youtube channels spawn recently and all of them are getting great views.
They also primarily prefer older 80's and 90's music.

as a regular /vr/tard I know that there are a lot of younger gamers asking about classic game series and forgotten games. I think we can thank the Youtuber essayfags for creating awareness about these old games in a way that they could appreciate it. Plenty of older games get revived from an essay and word of mouth from there. Without the internet I'm sure the younger generation would consume modern slop much more. Music is the same in that a lot of it is trying to remake the magic of the past. With video games we are able to make some motion in this space with the internet giving us a way to share old games and ideas with the younger gen. So in essence, we can thank the Angry Video Game Nerd for putting passion into his original series, which became the catalyst for other essayists and characters to promote old timey games to the youth.

not really. it sucks for sure but phone bills, car insurance, price of appliances and electronic have largely stayed the same since 2000 but i was only making $5.25 an hour at my first job. mcdonald's is paying $15 in some places. its not all bad and depending on how you live spending has not increased substantially. the big outliers are rent and groceries but zoomers are mostly living with their parents.

Part of it is that you also need to define "zoomers," since by now, the oldest zoomers are around 29 years old. The older half are kids that grew up in times when their parents still had their old consoles lying around, had their own first consoles in the 6th Gen that was full of retro compilation discs like Sonic Mega Collection Plus, owned GBA SPs that were full of 5th Gen ports, and then often grabbed ports of the classics on XBLA for cheap

I'm not surprised those ones get into retro stuff, as they had already been immersed in it themselves, although I will give them some credit: they're completely undeterred when it comes to playing dead games or actually hosting shit. They'll play MMO private servers with less than a dozen people online, no problem. They will actually run old school AFPS games for their friend groups, being one of the biggest adopters of all the easier-to-host or free-to-host technologies that have come out in the meantime. Hell, for as much as /v/ whines about wanting Tribes Ascend back, zoomers were the only ones I ran into that were willing to actually to grab the game, install the GOTY Edition Restoration Mod, and use hosting services like Llamagrab (which have now gone defunct) to all play and host for free with great ping.
