>>717701881 (OP) >arbitrary character switching until you have the right one to get the star >touch controls or d-pad in a game made for stick >physics fucked up and feel slower even when you hold the button to run
The minigame collection was cool though as a portable timewaster

there's a hat in every stage, just get it and don't suck ass and get hit, it's a kids game. if it was reversed and the original game had the characters all replaced by mario you fags would just complain it's dumbed down. i hate this site

Then 64 DS is your answer, no contest. That game oozes early 2000s Nintendo weirdness. Weird character models, touch screen gimmicks, that low-res charm, and cramming 4 playable characters into a game never meant for them? That’s peak “rented this from Blockbuster and played it on road trips while the screen glare blinded you” energy. Nostalgia bombs everywhere.
>noooo I have to have analog stick because 8 directions are not enough even though all 3D video games in history are perfectly playable on pc just with WSAD
git gud retards
ds version > tendie64

afraid of the version that's easier to control, less intricate, has less stars, etc? is your little sòyllennial mind short circuiting out of anger?
holding down the run button is not fun. mario 64 gives you so much with just 2 face buttons and adding a third ruins it. also the bindings in ds should replicate 64 so your thumb can jump and then dive/kick naturally and easily press both inputs consecutively for a frame perfect rollouts
also wallkicks feel worse and you can't longjump into them

Not with those piss easy controls designed for babies, having total walk/running speed and perfect angle with just the control stick is far superior, zoomies can't into precision

DSbabies keep saying it's "harder" and has better "content" for some reason. All the DS version has going for it is the mini-games, the single player aspect is the worst part of it.

Wouldn't that make him prefer the N64 version then?
Either way the DS one is super based if not for the fact it was on DS. I wonder if anyone's ROM hacked it to have smoother controls at this point? All those hyperautists obsessing over parallel universes in the original are really missing a golden opportunity to crack it open all over again.
Splitting up Mario's moveset and arbitrarily gating stars based on character simply isn't fun. >just get a cap
Why is that fun though? Yoshi is interesting at least since he has a unique moveset and isn't "Mario but worse" or "Mario but better".
The effort spent towards the new characters would be better served making new levels like Block Fort, Sunshine Island, the Goomboss stage, etc.
We could've had courses within courses within courses but instead we have "please go back and pick Wario to break this black brick because fuck you"
>>717701881 (OP) >More content >Better looking character models >Absurdly superior camera control >Kino minigames >Nowadays you can have analog controls on the 3DS fixing the only issue with this version
Only speedtrannies prefer the original

The mod only moves the touchscreen control to the circle pad, you can use them with the thumb pad even on a DS, I played like this when it came out
