What they need to do is kill the numbered mainline series and stick to doing spin-offs under various genres. It's the only way to shut the purists up and appease the modern audience. There's also no point in numbering the FF games if none of them are related.

Even there I’d have my doubts. Their vision doesn’t align. Sandfall wants to keep their team small and remain in the AA sphere whereas SE literally just ditched their entire AA middle ground and wants a consistent output of games with clear distinction (pixel tier - triple A big production)
