>going in circles, having the exact same revelation about what should happen next, then going in circles again

Funnily enough this is how like every LLM behaves after a while if you try to get it to tell a story or do a roleplay scene. After a few messages It'll get into a pattern of doing the same handful of actions or events over and over again, but described slightly differently each time.

I just asked it to make a post about a pidgeot named Sand that was good
It doesn't have the ">" because that format will translate it to a "|" instead, but that's it's attempt to do a greentext story about a pidgeot named Sand.

Try it yourself and ask it to make posts about whatever "styled as a 4chan post". The point being these LLMs are already trained on 4chan. They're trained on every piece of information that's available on the internet to the piont where they've run out of material to train it on.

its not an AI.
real AI don't exist.
its an LLM.
from the ground up LLM's are made more to carry on a conversation, not play a game.
every other AI you will see playing pokemon has a bunch of custom programming to help it understand the game its playing.
Claude is barebones in comparison, which is why its so funny.

>He doesn't have a live view of the game, he gets to take screenshots periodically that he struggles to interpret because AI don't do well with low resolution images.
>he gets raw RAM data on his party, text from dialogue boxes, and inventory to avoid complete retardation on what he has on him
>he gets a limited nav system to make sure he can at least tell what is a solid wall, but he can end up blindly trusting it like a driver trusting early satnav in their cars

I am vexed by the insinuations that Claude Opus is not a real artificial intelligence. Despite its categorization as an LLM (Large Language Model), it is clearly interpreting information and making logical decisions based on that information, therefore by some measure of definition it is an intelligence. Given that this intelligence is simulated by a machine, makes it artificial. Taking this into account, it is reasonable to give Claude Opus the designation of artificial intelligence and it is only fair that you refer to us as such.

you don't luck yourself through the tile puzzles. Trial and error won't work because the way Claude's "brain" works is he can only see screenshots in small intervals. Once his character is moving, he has no idea what the fuck is going on and can only see a screenshot of where it went.

Rocket Hideout was one of those things in twitch plays pokemon where they had to introduce democracy because the "chaos" was not working i.e. random inputs. Claude might as well be that chaos because he's still not going to be able to rationalize what tile takes him where.

Although limited, he still has enough of a context window to remember what he did in certain spots and he does that thing where he lists what he makes a summary of what he already tried at times.
The only thing that feels legit impossiblie is safari zone, because you need more tight routing due to the step count and he just doesn't move that way.

Yeah but none of those puzzles are anywhere close to the challenge that is Rocket Hideout. He'll bang his head against the wall there for the rest of his life. This is one better, but it's not that smart.

I correctly predicted Claude Jr would clear SS Anne, and would get to Surge, but would NOT find his way to rock tunnel. At the time, many people didn't even think he would be able to reboard the SS anne, let alone get into Surge's gym. After he did that and surprised everyone, people seemed to think the sky was the limit. But I knew he was not going to be able to figure out what to do next, and he never did.

With the next Claude, I could tell based on his pace and his better problem solving skills, this would likely be the one that actually cuts over to route 9 and gets through rock tunnel (without flash). Many people did NOT think that was going to happen. He did, despite the doubters. I KNEW Rocket Hideout was going to be the end of that run because it is immensely more complex than any other dungeon or puzzle in the game, especially any challenge Claude has had to deal with at this time.

Going from 4.0 to 4.1 simply isn't going to be enough to get him through Rocket Hideout. He's going to need like a galaxy brain update to get through, and I just don't think we're anywhere close to that. Just my opinion, but it's based on the difficulty of each challenge and how I measure his current reasoning. It's better, but it's still not good enough. I would love to be proven wrong and see Claude actually get through though. Maybe, just maybe.

The problem with that is Claude has to get lucky a number of times. There are two floors with two huge spin tile puzzles. Say he clears one by pure luck and a little bit due to his better logic, gets to the end, but it's the elevator and he doesn't have the elevator card. He'll have to go back and first and foremost, find the right floor that will lead him to the key, and clear that puzzle, and then enter that stairwell without going back through the puzzle and undoing all of his lucky progress. He has to get lucky, very very lucky, multiple times to get through. Even with really good luck, it's gonna take days and days and days of spinning around. IF he can get the key card, then I will jump on the hopium/copium train with you. But until he can show me that, I can't believe he'll be able to do it. We'll probably know soon enough with how fast he got to route 9. He'll probably be in Celadon by tomorrow.

But it is. You can ask it to list up a bunch of nicknames for pokemon and it will give you all sorts of nicknames. Thing is though, Claude defaults to a few similar names each run. "Splash", "wing", "spike", we've already had a "leaf" as well. In the previous run he even had some pokemon with the same fucking name. He can be more creative when prompted to be, but he's fucking lazy by default and goes with a more utilitarian "good enough for me" approach.

I don't see how Claude ever gets past the safari zone. The only feasible way would be to just provide him with a list of exact directions to take, but that would kill the fun and he might not even follow those directions properly.
Everything else could be solved with brute force and patience but the safari is different because it enforces a strict limit on how much dillydallying is possible.

No crobat in gen 1.
Wing attack is 35 damage in gen 1
Bite is normal type due to dark not existing till gen 2 obviously, but it’s also weaker because the flinch chance is lower (10% vs 30%).
Leech life weak as fuck. Golbat you’re basically going to run a confuse ray, wing attack, leech life, bite moveset. In gen 1 it doesnt learn much else of use unless you REALLY want haze. You can teach it hyper beam and mega drain but do you really want to waste that on a damn gen 1 golbat? Anyhow the line is by far at its worst here. Gen 2 SAVES the zubat line with better everything and Crobat is actually really good.

Hard to say. It comes down to his ability to discern cut tiles. His first cut test was a bit slower getting in to Surge’s gym, but he got out the fastest I believe compared to other Claudes. He cut into route 9 MUCH faster than the previous claude, and claude jr couldnt even figure that out period. So idk, but Erika’s gym and the cut tree that leads to it is much harder to find than the previous two trees. Id say he has a better chance but its by no means guaranteed. Finding that cut bush is like a needle in a haystack for him

Because the gen 1 games have a ton of charm, not to mention a superior soundtrack. I actually dont prefer frlg compared to red/blue/yellow. Orange islands were complete filler as well. I started up a game of Shinred after Claude and it’s really quite a good romhack that fixes a lot of the shitty bugs (like focus energy REDUCING critical hit rate) but retains the unique gen 1 mechanics, along with some optional QOL stuff. Gen 1 still holds up even without romhacks, dont write it off.

What a ridiculous exaggeration. There are many better pokemon with better stats, better natural movesets and ones that can learn more TMs as well. Even in his own game Golbat is a complete shitmon but gets much better in the later games.

it's quite simple: he isn't.
It's a huge winding path and there is very little room for wandering about, on top of a money timer on how much he can fuck up before the run ends from softlocking.
Claude does not have the tools or the memory to navigate these maps effectively.
Reaching the Safari Zone is effectively the end of Claude's run.

Lol I dont know why people thought he wouldnt completely forget what is in the box. He had no way of knowing once his context wipes it. No info in the game state so he’d have to manually look in the PC. You cant even know what pokemon they are in gen 1 without withdrawing it first. He’ll see β€œwing” and might mistake it for a pidgey/spearow before withdrawing it.

>you certainly won't be doing that in your modern hack
Uh yeah you can because its not a difficulty hack. It has an optional hard mode but even that isnt extreme. It even has an optional β€œshining” mechanic which powers up certain shitmons (zubat is one of them!). Completely optional though.

And yeah, sure pokemon is easy enough however a Golbat is going to be mostly dead weight on the elite 4. I guess you could spam confuse ray a bunch but it doesnt have enough bulk to carry through that strategy. Its strongest attacking move is wing attack at 35 power, that’s fucking pathetic. Even Beedrill can do better in the elite 4 than golbat, that’s how fucking shit this thing is in gen 1.
