The only time I enabled secure boot, my gpu stop working, my pc gave me a black screen because I don't have an igpu. So I couldn't disable secure boot, had to ask a friend for his ryzen with igpu so I could access the bios and disable secure boot. If you don't have a igpu don't do it. It's retarded anyway, force you to go into your bios and enable a feature that can literally make your gpu stopped being recognized by your motherboard. Even riot, with their kernel level anticheat, lets you play their game without activating secure boot, you can literally play the game with that amd bullshit thats kinda like secure boot.

I couldn't boot with this and I have no idea why, my windows installatlion is UEFI, my hard drive is GPT, I tried a bunch of troubleshooting but windows would simply not boot with this on and i'd get a black screen that i'd have to power off and on again to go back to bios and turn it off for windows to boot. I'll worry about it in october. Only thing I can think of is my MSI Bios is a factory default 2020 version.

most of the relevant linux distros are signed, plus
1. it can be easily toggled at any time in the exceptional circumstance that you actually will be dual booting unusual linux distributions on a regular basis (rare)
2. many secure boot implementations let you manually whitelist a bootloader if for some reason it's not already on the approved list
3. even if that's not the case, there are shims and bootloaders that are signed for secure boot out there that you can just use to chainload whatever the fuck you want

meanwhile, not using secure boot means that malware can easily mitm the boot process and you'd be none the wiser

the only valid reason not to use secure boot is if you're on a board that doesn't support it (~2011 or earlier) or if purely for convenience's sake you're temporarily turning it off for i.e. loading a linux rescue drive as a one-time thing

In laymen's terms:

When you turn on your computer, first your motherboard loads (this is the bios)
Then, your motherboard reads your hard drive to boot your operating system (the OS, this is windows)
However, there's some software that loads between these two steps. As in, after the bios but before your OS.
Most of this software is legitimate, but some viruses and malware use this window because launching before your OS can make it so they're invisible to the OS. In the context of video games, you could install hacks that boot before your OS, and in that case, literally no anticheat can ever detect it preemptively.

Secure Boot makes it so NOTHING can boot before your OS. This helps a videogame's anticheat detect hacks better, because now nothing can hide from it outside of the OS.

I decided to just uninstall the beta and opt to redownload BF4 instead after a few hours.
