People think the dialogue is deep because there's a lot of it and they played the game while underage.

There are references and allusions, but no. Xenosaga is a reimagining of some of the earlier "parts" Takahashi had planned, but the Xenoblade series is pretty far removed from it.

If you're emulating, the gold standard for PS1 emulation is Mednafen/Beetle SW.
Don't fall for the duckstation meme, you'll just be back here in an hour asking why it's glitching out.

Duckstation, undub is optional depending on how you feel about the voice acting. There is a retranslation mod called perfect works (after the book) that fixes names and some script translation errors but its still being worked on
