Should I play osrs again just to get one?

its not even that hard just annoying to play for up to an hour to actually get to jad
just watch some videos on the anims and youll get it easy

Jad is not hard, its all psychological, rely more on the sounds of his attacks then the animation

you can practice him by googling jad simulator
and you can make it magnitudes easier by using the fight caves rotations plug in so you can predict enemy spawns

OSRS is such a weird game
Things look so easy when you look at them objectively, but then when someone actually tries to do it they struggle
Like Jad is click once every 5 seconds with a small period of click twice every 5 seconds half way through, you'd think anyone competent at games would do it first try easily
But all the WoW streamers are tanking multiple hits, dying, literally shaking like a crack addict missing his fix when they kill him
Anyway thats all to say I feel slightly less bad when I die to Doom after I see a multi season glad in WoW dying to Jad

I'm interested in playing OSRS as an ironman. Worth it or no?

Jad wave spawns can be predicted by entering the caves at certain times all you need to pay attention to are where the forst three waves spawn and you know on which rotation you are

i got one on rs2 first try
it wasnt as hard as i thought it would be but its so stressful spending 2 hours for a chance to fight a thing that can kill you instantly with no retries

Jad is mechanically simple but it comes at the end of an hour+ long gauntlet, there's a game-changing upgrade on the line and if you fuck up once you get one-shot and get basically nothing and have to do it all over again.
Even if you're very comfortable with the game and you've done it enough times to not be intimidated anymore you still need to respect Jad.

Prayers giving immunity to the damage type fundamentally is a bad design choice, but RS simply missed the boat on that change and they're stuck with it in OSRS because changing it undermines so much of the gameplay.

It basically works like that with a lot of new and higher-level stuff in OSRS anyway, there are plenty of bosses and enemies that just hit through prayer and even jobber quest bosses and normal enemies have "if you're standing on this tile get fucked" attacks
If a modern boss is built around prayer they'll make you do obnoxious prayer switching every tick, the new big boss has you do seven (7) random flicks on reaction while simultaneously dealing with two other mechanics that will kill you if you fuck up

Getting the fire cape had me shaking with victory. It felt amazing. I have never had that feeling playing another videogame ever, not even close.

i started an ironman and got my bowfa/crystal early, and then did jad after that

Probably not for me then, I haven't even tried inferno and I play the game vanilla only. I usually just do vork for bossing for gp, I nearly have 3k kills and the faggot dragon still hasn't dropped a pet or even a dragon visage.

I did it back in 2006. It took like 2 hours and no one knew anything about the wave spawns and shit like that. The only resources were low quality YT videos or forum posts. Pretty sure I did it following a Zybez forum guide that my IRL friend had open on his PC and would tell me what was coming up each wave. Full Karils + Guthans was the "meta" strat at the time. Switching prayers also used to stop your attacks so you would have to right-click attack Jad between prayer swaps and prayer flicking was not possible so half your inventory was prayer pots.

At the time it seemed like one of the hardest things and my friend and I literally flipped out when I killed Jad. You had to be there for original RS2, it was a very magical time playing with IRL friends and siblings and mucking around in Castle Wars.

the issue is, they focused way too hard on pvm and bossing, and ramped up the difficulty too fast. So now they're reaching hard-limits on the combat system, which is why every new boss is a tile mini-game where actually attacking the boss is less and less of the fight and insta-kill shots are basically mandatory now.
Whereas runescape worked much better when content was spread out, and vertical progression and vertical boss difficulty was a slower ramp.
But really, OSRS is just a retirement MMO now.

WoW and FFXIV had exhausted every variation of Simon Says mechanics to design their boss encounters within their games' systems decades ago, and they just kept adding more. OSRS is tile-based, so a lot of the mechanics revolve around mechanical mastery on moving around those tiles. People are being conditioned into playing leagues and other temporary formats where this content is appropriate.
You see this on path of exile where the standard server is a cringe kiddie pool, and the core playerbase logs in for leagues then closes the game until the next league.
I think rs' monetization scheme doesn't match up with this at all though so if this is indeed the direction the game is going in, there need to be changes to the members/f2p content provision.

it was interesting how much you had to rely on guthans for sustain , and there was SO MUCH tech you had to get used to for the mob spawns. i didn't do it until a little while after it came out, but knowledge was still extremely esoteric and there was still optimizations being made. all the extra clicks you had to do back then on jad, and switching prayers being a net loss in damage over time, could slowly add up to you making a mistake and getting one shot. i even did this with a ranged level of only 82 or something like that, took quite a few attempts.

thanks for coming to my nostalgia blog. OG jad was super fucking intense, and the time investment combined with how much money you would spend for each attempt, really had you sweating. doing jad was the peak of bossing in RS2
