I dunno. Maybe this indie clone of it will turn out good. It's got the aesthetics and atmosphere.
The best way to salvage Bioshock (as in the original concept) though is to do the cool mysterious setting of Rapture again and just turn it into System Shock 2. Like actual design that is fully open ended RPG like that. Or even the maze level design of SS1, although that would filter too many people.
