That so called "cause" is bs. People will sexualize any normal looking woman, even if she isn't sexualized at all wihtin the original medium itself. You will find sexual fanart of Cel from Portal, or Alyx from Half-Life, both female, both not sexualized within their media at all. Hell, Cel is barely even visible when playing her game.
The "problem" is, that we, as humans, are highly sexual beings. We will find ways to sexualize anything. In order to solve this, you would have to go much deeper than ruining games with woke-bullshit.
Also, what does it even mean to "take a character seriously". Do I have to build a shrine for samus to demonstrate my respect for her, while pretending that she is not attractive for me? Do I hurt her feelings by finding her hot? What are you gonna do? Draw and depict all woman with male bodies? Because that is the only way to unsexualize them considering that the female form is, by nature, sexually attractive to the male brain, and no, I don't mean the meme-shit with oversized breasts and riduculous hip to waist ratio, but the natural female form, that you see everyday when you are outside. Desexualizing females would mean to not make them feminine anymore.
