The performance is average on a Deck, I heard it works well anough on medium graphics, but that's it.
As for the game itself, it's good. Very unoptimized and can crash but it's also a very big game that gets inspired (and references) many games to then make it's own thing. It's a mix of Ratchet & Clank, Serious Sam and Doom 2016 with a CoD Zombies side mode. I recommend.

As for that OPTIONAL Tough Corner, camp by one of the dandelions on the central mesa and glide "upriver" as the riverboat is coming towards you.
Or do as other anon said and use the much later umbrella glide to start your glide from pretty much anywhere.
