Because Bloodborne remake is the PS6 launch title. When they launch the hardware they want to be able to report strong sales figures and the only way to guarantee that is with a dead cert. They'll exploit the "hardcore" gaming audience who *will* buy a system for just one game exactly like they did with the PS5 and Demon's Souls.

2) It's not about lifetime sales it's about securing good sales figures to report in financials during launch window. Being tied to Fromsoft is kind of a pain in the ass in terms of making sequels. They could do it themselves without From but it would likely backfire, and relying on From to be interested is a no go, especially after a success on the level of Elden Ring. Without the ability to make sequels on their own terms, the game doesn't have that much value to Sony.

They mostly port stuff to introduce new audiences to franchises they actually have plans for in the future. Most Sony games aren't really that profitable compared to the money they make from just peddling third party live service stuff, so nearly all their business decisions boil down to how they can nudge people into getting locked into the PlayStation ecosystem. I would bet money there will be a Bloodborne remaster for the PS6 launch that never gets ported to PC as a result. What else is Bluepoint going to make now that their Sony-mandated live service attempt is cancelled?

Not having the source code makes things far more complicated that they need to be. Yes, you can release a patch to fix the framerate. Porting a game with just the compiled files is a much harder task. If you don't have the source code, re-releases a game makes it a really big gamble. What will they do if something breaks? What if the game has constant crashes and finding how to fix it with already compiled code is a monumental task that requires weeks or months of reverse engineering? No, it's either having the source code, or bury your head in the sand and pretend that people don't really want Bloodborne
