Persona 1 is faster paced on PSP but has watered down difficulty even on hard mode plus the music is ruined unless you apply the music patch, but even then its not perfect. (someone was working on making a better music patch that includes ALL of the PS1 music idk if that ever got finished)
Still you're better off with a PSP playthrough because half of the game was cut out of the english PS1 release
Persona 2 Innocent Sin on PSP manages to slow down the speed of auto battle compared to P1 PSP and also watered down the difficulty drastically to the point where its not even that difficult to beat the game on hard with only your starting Personas.
There's some added side quests in PSP that are explicitly not part of the story and break continuity.
Persona 2 Eternal Punishment on PSP is the definitive version of the game that doesn't cuck the difficulty and has added content that reads like it came from a novel made some time after the original, but its still cool and shows what Tatsuya was doing for all the time he's offscreen.
