No. It's a linear level with side content rooms. I'd rather have secrets sprinkled around like 3 did instead of this, but we have this instead. You are calling it a Metroid because these optional rooms are a checklist of Hollow Knight platfforming trials.

I don’t mind the Metroidvania game design but the gameplay I saw looked really stupid and simple, basically jumping and side dashing midair platforming, really hoping they don’t mess it up too bad
