The World Ends With You
Finished it earlier (DS ver) for the first time, and really enjoyed it.
What are your thoughts on it?

kino. i played the switch version, back when it was new the ds version was too hard for me, i tried a bunch of times to push through but never could, but the switch one was dumbed down enough for my stupid ass.
i recommend the sequel, story is a bit too referential of the first at points but it's also got pretty unique gameplay, and the music is still great.

I don't know too much about the sequel, aside from the gameplay being extremely different. I'll probably get to it eventually.

One of the best jrpgs, pushing the envelope with the gimmick ds gameplay but earns it's keep because it's well designed. great story and post-game that basically satisfies any want from more lore and backstory, harder boss fights..flavour was on point. Still have to set some time aside for that sequel

I remember searching for it for years as a kid and no store near me ever had a copy, played it later on the switch but it wasn't the same. TWEWY, Hotel Dusk and Another Code were the games I wanted the most back in the day but I never got.

I don't understand the series, or its story hook. I found it boring and dropped it after a couple of hours. It didn't seem to be going anywhere. There are way better Nintendo DS games than this """"classic"""".

best game on the DS IMO
ambitious gameplay that makes full use of every feature of the DS, excellent (albeit somewhat cheesy) story, protagonists experience real character growth

If there's ever a game that made me fully appreciate Nintendo's hardware gimmicks, it was this. Absolutely loved it back in the day, possibly loved the sequel even more.

Best game on the ds.
What do people think of the switch version? I tried it but just ended up missing the original combat system. This is one of those games thats never gonna feel right on anything other than its original hardware.

I liked it, but I had to switch to Easy for the final boss back when I played it, so I wasn’t very good at the game it seems. I think I prefer NEO, except for one day that seemed too long for its own good.

I exactly found the dialogue between the characters to be predictable and clichΓ©d. Again, I didn't finish it, but I felt strongly they're like "omg let's show him like, be totally a loner and hate friendship... because then he can like meet people and learn that being together is actually awesome."

Can you really tell me that this isn't what the story does if I keep playing, cuz this shit is trite to me.

iirc the game's first spoken lines are basically him telling everyone off.
neku's character development throughout the game is predictable, sure, but it's fun to watch him change.

LostMagic
Mario Kart DS

TWEWY's better than all of them

The original for the DS was one of my favorite DS games, and I absolutely loved it. I enjoyed the characters and getting to see them grow through the story, the music was phenomenal and I still listen to some of the soundtrack sometimes, I liked the art style and aesthetic, and the gameplay was really fun. Messing around with all the pins and getting good at manually controlling my partner felt so nice when it all clicked and I found a good set.

I loved it so much I bought a second copy on DS to loan out to my friends so they could play it and I wouldn't have to lose my save file. The iOS port (and announcement) were terrible for me, and Neo was okay, but the original is still one of my favorite games.

TWEWY and NTWEWY threads were the only peaceful and fun threads on this shitpile of a board. No culture wars, no racism, no consolefagging, just people enjoying the game, characters, and story.

Great. You just convinced me there's nothing to gain from playing it. You're one of those who go "Muh character development" but it's literally just
>Boy was sad
>Then boy became happy and learned the value of friendship
>Wow
The gall of someone in this thread to say this mogs Ghost Trick lol. That game at least has an interwoven plot that unfolds and reveals a bigger picture.

Tell me you never played to week 2 without telling me you haven't played to week 2.

It's too bad, because you'll actually never get to meet the best character that makes the game worth playing
