its legal because nobody can stop them and will cuck to a non-binding statement hidden in their ToS
Devs have been doing it for years already
Witcher 3 and Satisfactory for example both had "next-gen updates" years after they were released and purchasable that effectively made the original games unplayable for anyone that didn't meet the arbitrary new requirements
there should be laws against altering products you already paid for and literally making them unusable years later "just because", its a much more serious issue than what SKG screechers have actually been whining about

>Isn’t secure boot enabled by default on all modern computers?
Biggest issue with Secure Boot is you have to choose between Secure Boot and Compatibility Support Module.
Several mobo manufacturers have Secure Boot off by default because you never know what kind of hardware or operating system someone might try to stick on it. Anyone putting together their own PC would have to turn it on themselves.
A lot of OEM custom builders that let you pick the components and OS turn Secure Boot off for the sake of maximizing compatibility even if they're certain there aren't any on the rig they built for you.
Anyone buying a laptop or some prebuilt Dell or whatever almost certainly has it on.

Bottom line here is that none of these things are affecting dma cheaters who are using signed drivers and second pc to cheat. I.e. every cod streamer and people who use paid and less known, professional cheat vendors are unaffected.
All these requirements are there to appease retards crying on steam forums. Maybe it prevents script kiddies and cheap or public cheat users from using cheats but faze Swagg and Tim the Ratman are still going to be using their cheats in the public.

How's that supposed to work? All Secure Boot does is prevent you from booting unsigned .efi images.
If there's any cheat that needs you to boot your own image, you can always sign it so you can boot it under Secure Boot.

For the majority of Win11's LIFETIME (3-4 [three-four] years), it was UNDERWATER in comparison to Win10.

Literally, Win11's lifetime has been until these past two months:

Windows 10: 80-90% of the market.
Windows 11: 10-20% of the market.

NOBODY is willingly using Windows 11. The ones that are are morons that can't handle Linux or multiplayer players that need anti-cheat (which doesn't even fucking work, LMAO) for multiplayer titles.

The recent obsession over cheaters is an indoctronated fear by the tech industries and game publishers to mine more data from normie gamers in an attempt to tank performance for more hardware sales and to encourage system and cloud rental servies. You will own nothing. Especially not your medical, financial, ad profile, internet usage, and offline patterns are tracked back to the predators. The jews are influencing impressionable anons like (You) into thinking the people who reject these dark patterns are brownoids and poors who want to ruin your gayming experience. When in reality you're just defending these horrific patterns.
Have fun with your drm, kernel level anticheat deceit, Apple shit tier standardization of hardware and software, and botnets. All to play EA's latest attempt to wash away the fact that they were voted the world's worst company in the world.

Secure boot is enabled on pre-builts like Dells, yes. It is NOT enabled on user purchases standalone motherboards that you have to buy your own CPU and RAM for, at least I've never seen one with it enabled before.

it is, and i've never seen one with it disabled before
the only times it is disabled is when your boot drive is set to MBR, but even that happens automatically(bios detects MBR boot drive, asks if you want to change it to GPT, and if you select no, it automatically switches secure boot off, which just confirms it was on by default), but that isn't really something anyone does anymore

the main thing preventing microsoft from forcing people to ""upgrade"" to win 11 is them not having secure boot enabled
they made bf and cod suddenly require secure boot so people would finally turn it on and therefore meet the win 11 install requirements. these people will probably wake up to their pc installing win 11 on it's own at some point within the next 6 months btw

I'm sure it's technically possible to install win 11 without secure boot, but ms doesn't try to force you to install win 11 if you don't have it on.
before I turned on secure boot a couple days ago, the only win 11 popups I saw were the occasional "please buy a new pc so you can use win 11" message, but now I have a permanent notification begging me to update to win 11 on my screen 24/7

W11 doesn't require you to have secure boot on to install and run, it only requires your hardware be secure boot capable.

Most motherboard manufactures default it off incase you manage to botch the OS install and W11 managed to encrypt all your drives with default on bitlocker, among other shenanigans.

I really wonder what their endgame is.

Because it's going to be really REALLY fucking suspicious once they start requiring Secure Boot for singleplayer games, which you know they will.

COD has been dead for decades. Actually still playing it is a failure of your own life decisions.

if you're that worried about cheating, only require the extra intrusive anti-cheats for comptard modes and let everyone play unranked.
if your game only has comptard (ranked) modes or they're the only populated modes then it's a bad game, no value lost by skipping it.

I could take complete control of any Jedi Outcast/Academy server (and Quake 3, RTCW/ET but I didn't play those) that allowed map downloads. We had to disable downloads after the first time someone did it to us (it also took the server provider a few days to restore the game files the hacker casually overwrote)
https://opennet.ru/base/usersoft/1147279184_3982.txt.html

Another exploit in that game, all it could do was crash the server but was much harder to guard against, and trying to get rid of the guy doing it with VPNs was a pain in the fucking ass.
The code to do it?
say aaaaaaaa...(over 1024 a's)
yep that's all this caused a buffer overflow and instantly crashed unmodded servers

I cannot imagine using Linux over Windows back then. XP was an excellent OS and Linux was beyond garbage then. It's only just passable today, and that's only because Microsoft ruined a good thing when they released Windows 8.
