The worst thing about P5 is how it will have two hour interludes between dungeons where the player had zero autonomy. The only gameplay is pressing X to advance a sequence of dialogue trees. They even trick you into thinking you have control over Joker after 45 minutes of cutscenes. But all you can do is save and prepare for the next 45 minutes of cutscenes. P3&P4 had a much better balance of story and dungeon crawling.

How was the Raidou remaster? Apparently they did far more work than what a typical remaster implies?

objectively pretty good; more fun to play than the original, a lot of things are done well and a ton of clear effort went into making it an actual good remaster.
personal preference wise, the atmospheric shift is a downgrade.

there isn't a whole lot to fix with raidou 2 in my opinion, so fucking with the atmosphere will be more of a knock against it when they do it than it is for raidou 1's remaster.

If you like the demons and gameplay, try SMTVV. There are no text messages. The intro has a bit of story, but other than that it is short cut scenes. Do Vengeance route.
Objectively Persona 5 is bloated.

You could cut 40 hours of game play if you fixed these.
I liked the dungeons and turn based combat, but I would play the game 2 hours after work and lots of days I would not get to do that because I would need to watch anime, read text messages, or Mementos was blocked.

The story is terrible. The dialog is incredibly repetitive. If Persona 5 was a novel it would be the worst one I ever read. I would feel it is insultingly bad. Like the author is paid by the word and maliciously inflated the story to increase his pay check.

Picrel isnt even close to all the books I have read. I have 3 e-readers and read tons of physical books.

Everyone wants a high school life sim with nice art and music. The JRPG part is almost irrelevant. Whether Persona achieves that is debatable but the art and music is really nice.

OP i understand if you hate games with a story focus, I get it, but pretending like there isn’t a target audience for it is retarded. Theres really no need to make an antagonistic post.
If you want something like persona but more gameplay focused try SMT series instead.
Etrian odyssey is also a good choice if you’re okay with the first person view (you don’t actually get to see your characters fighting basically) and you like map-making.
To a lesser extent I can also recommend Metaphor, this one is probably about as wordy as persona but with a lot more dungeon crawling, they cut the day to day activities in about half and give you several dungeons to explore per “arc”. It also uses a class system instead of a pokemon-like system.

calendar system is a neat idea but because the games do such a bad job at introducing reasons to stop dungeon crawls (except 3) you're heavily pushed towards clearing story dungeons in one day so you can maximize your time doing the dating sim stuff, which makes the game feel really lopsided pacing wise as you'll spend most of the games outside of the dungeon crawler side of things

Persona is a shit series but has its niche. it is designed to be loved by the people who play their first persona game between the ages of 15-22 and never play another Persona game and play other ATLUS games.

people who go full EA/Madden/FIFA with all persona releases are either brain rotted or in a self-imposed state of arrested development who either in their mid 30's and still think "age is nothing but a number" and believe they are still in the 20s or guiding their depression and social disorder and using a Japan high school drama to fill a whole in their life that never existed.

Same thing happened to me with 5 but i love 4, the reason is p5 is shit is because the constant moments mid gameplay where they stop you for a tutorial, tutorial that you already went through before also it's piss poor easy with no challenge, for the steam version they removed the compendium cheevs too so no need to do an NG+, no repayablitiy either.

For P4, in the dungeon crawler parts, you are not constantly bothered by shit and tutorials
