The Nintendo DS was a fantastic console people shat on because its third party was better than its first party content but i firmly believe that made it a great console in the same way the PS1 or Sega Saturn was.

DS was SNES/Mega Drive 2 with more gimmicks available and a much larger number of developers to take advantage of the pros of tight budgets and 2D assets. Acting like it didn't have a fantastic library is just being contrary for its own sake.

3DS catches a lot of flak for being the awkward middle child but it had bangers too - SMT IV, Kid Icarus: Uprising, Fire Emblem Awakening, hell even the eShop was stacked with niche gold like BoxBoy and Pushmo. That said, yeah, nothing will ever dethrone the DS era of weird and janky experimental magic. Felt like every week was a new gamble and it *worked*.

The DS and the Wii are the best systems because they allow for unique gaming experiences where you get to DO things, but unfortunately we live in a world full of faggots who think games should only be played with an Xbox style controller where you just press a button and watch things happen.

It was insane to me that everyone around me was screaming about the PSP was going to put Nintendo out of business.

It really gave me perspective on how out of touch everyone was when it came to games.

It was a magical time anon. Downloading roms that often broke street date. A 2gb sd card would hold like 40 games you felt like such a chad with an entire library at your fingertips
